ID request (pics)

These were found growing on cow dung in tall grass. Are either active, or is more information needed for an id?

The first picture is either Psilocybe merdaria or Psilocybe semiglobata. Were the stems real slimy, and was the veil jelly like? If so its Ps. semiglobata, if not its probably Ps. merdaria. Its too big to be Ps. coprophila. Either way its not an active Psilocybe.


The second pic is really hard to tell but looks like possibly Panaeolus semiovatus???

Sorry, I'll try to give more info.
I found these in the black hills of south dakota.
In the first pic:
Cap=about 2 in. and was slimy, brownish red color
Gills= attached, brown-tan color
Stalk= about 4in. with some of the veil still attached
Spores were black

Does that help? Is Panaeolus semiovatus active?

I'd have to agree with Psilocybe(Stropharia) semiglobata.
Not active.

most of them are non-active i believe, that is in the Psilocybe genus. all psilocybIAN mushroom are active.

There are 116 psychoactive species of Psilocybe and ove 160 or so non-active species.

Most of the Psilocybe genus is active, however there are several common inactive dung-loving psilocybes, including Psilocybe coprophilia, P. semiglobata, and P. meridaria.
