You've got no clue what you're looking for, do you?

more of a clue than some, much less than others - i'm a newb, but please help me learn, i am going to purchase a book as soon as I can, until then I have to rely upon my knowledge i have gotten from erowid, and such

prehaps instead of telling me that i have no idea what i am looking for you could tell me what to do if i am apparently doing it so wrong, or just flame me

what area are you in? you should look in the faq in the grow/find section that lists the active species in your area, then do some research on those species. that will tell you where and when to look for each species. the odds of you stumbling across a random plilocybian mushroom that bruises conspiciously blue are not great, it's best to know what to look for and where and when you might find it.
btw, gumby wasn't flaming you, he was enforcing the rules of this forum in his own sarcastic way. you get used to him.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Look like Psathyrella. check for a blackish spore print.

If you dont have a good field guide you will never make a positive ID. After you have one, and have narrowed your options down then you can make a more educated ID request. It's the only way to learn, (unless you know someone who has the knowledge in your area).

The above link can help you narrow down your search...

To be a great fishermen you have to love to fish....I think the same goes for Mycology. The proccess of learning can be as rewarding as what you may find along the way. Keep reading and good luck.
