Good mp3 player (not winamp)
    #13064622 -

Ive been using Linux for about 5 years now but got a new laptop and have Windows 7 on it.  I used to use winamp back in 20 ought 5 but I figure theres something better out there now.  I want something light and snappy so no itunes or anything Apple related.  Right now Im using VLC

For more lightweight mp3 players foobar2000, wmp classic, and XMPlay are good low resource programs.

Songbird is alright.. but it feels too much like it's trying to be itunes IMO. I stick with Winamp pro, modern skin. Has worked for me for over almost a decade. And its playlisting is a charm.

Winamp: Audio
VLC: Video

I switch back and forth between songbird and winamp. I use songbird mainly for my flac files, as winamp's flac support isn't as good.

Yes, it plays the songs fine. However, I always have problems with the info for the songs; I have to go in and correct the track information like the album name, artist name, track numbers, etc. It doesnt recognize any of the ID tags. Also, im a last.fm user and whenever I play a .flac song in winamp it tells me it cant scrobble the song and doesn't even recognize it.

Other than that winamp is great, I love it.

Sorry you can't really beat winamp for audio.

And Media Player Classic for video, followed by Core Media Player, I never liked VLC because it has issues seperating audio streams in MKV's and OGMs.

I use Easy CD-DA Extractor to edit all my flac metadata and all ID tags show up fine in Winamp.

yeah, winamp works like a champion, in my opinion.  i wouldn't use anything else.  i use VLC media player for video files and winamp for all my music needs.  it has an awesome integrated and adjustable equalizer which is also awesome.

Winamp blows, everything else uses too many resources. Foobar is :awesome:

If you're using linux use MPD, it's a network media player so as long as you have an mpd client on a computer you can listen to music on you're remote computer.  As well as on your local computer.
