Will my jars grow indestructible bacteria?
    #12968695 -

I made some jars with verm/brf yesterday thinking I could boil sterilize today. It turns out I can't, since my roomate guy is sick today and will be home all day (and I don't really want him to know). It's been 24 hours already. If I do it tomorrow (in about 18 hours) will the jars grow indestructible contaminating bacteria? Do I have to make my substrate all over again?

Should be ok to boil tomorrow. Give it an extra 10-15 mins if you like.

But roommate = trouble.

You make it all possible. Doesn't it feel good?

if your jar has contaminants growing in it throw it out and make a new batch and Pressure cook / boil it right away.

imho it's not worth the risk of going with something that has a very likely chance of contaminating.

on the other hand, i made a jar, PC'ed it, and it grew mold. i threw it in the pressure cooker, and left it there for 90 minutes. while the mold is not growing anymore, it's still there. i just don't know man

Thanks for the replies. I think it's too soon to tell if I have contaminants. I'll go with Doc_T's suggestion because I think I have a chance at not getting contams, but if I do get em, I'll throw the jar(s) because I have no intention to get sick lol. Fingers crossed.

And ya, roomates are a pain in the ass lol.
