Oh btw... I like using Tyvek filters.
I'm trying some 6T filter lids now...I'll be posting some results in the next few days.

>Ok IF it doesn't block out air then why do they use it to make suits for asbestos
>removal? I mean there isn't wind blowing through basements where it's use to
>insulate heating vents. Yet Tyvek keeps your lungs safe from air-borne particals.
>How is this possible?

Counter question:
A HEPA filter allows air to pass through, yet it holds back air-borne particles.
How is this possible?

Again, to repeat myself, tyvek is as good or better( cause cheaper) as any filter disk.

Please, please, please, do yourself a favor....THINK first, then post.

If you go with the Tyvek, make sure you don't use too big of a hole in your cover.I would'nt make it any bigger than a quarter inch.I've seen a few people complain that their grain would dry out too much using Tyvek alone without a pierced metal/plastic cover underneath.

i used polyfil a long time, and was quite happy with it in general. just recently started using tyvek instead, it seems both have their advantage, tyvek is easier to prepare/use but needles leave a hole.
but it does seem to me overall that the tyvek does a slighly better job at filtering out contams. my contam rate has dropped since i began using tyvek.

Good point! Thanks for bringing that up. Someone posted another workaround for this earlier, that being to use 2 layers of tyvek rather than 1.

all i have to say is the dupont tyvek envelopes i bought are not air proof. i don't have a tyvek suit though they do look rather spiffy. also, i would also like to once again highlight the importance of not having too wide a hole in the jar lid when using tyvek. if my tyvek envelopes were air proof this wouldn't be cause for concern (and using tyvek as a filter would be pointless).

The point is, MM is claiming that the Tyvek I and others use as filter material is air-proof.
Am I?m telling him it?s not, I?m telling him it is air permeable....but he wouldn?t believe me...I give up, this is a hopeless case.

>Now if you were to flip it over. Not such a good idea cause you block in the CO2
>which leads slow growth. Which is about the same as using a lid with no holes.

I?m tired of the nonsense you post.

CO2 DOESN`T slow growth at all, it?s actually beneficial at this stadium.
Where you don?t want CO2 is at pinning and fruiting.
Read Stamets.

And, I (and others, Una for instance) used Tyvek both ways, the printed side up or down, and the results were the same.

So, please, stop theorizing, better do some practical research.

Can you read between the lines, or does someone have to state the OBVIOUS, to you.

Construction vapor barrier type & envelope grade Tyvek" are what most folks can find. Your own post, shows it has far better filtration material than the polyester fiber disks you sell.

Anyone with an "iota" of brain cell, can get yards & yards  of "tyvek" filter material FREE.

Bitch, whine & snivel, but that is a FACT. Like it -- or not, Mr. multiple IP's,  nicks & names.

Go ahead -- argue  some more.........
