I'm not an expert, but you may have over done it. Are you using straight rice in the jars?

Cooking the substrate won't hurt the mycelium, but it may lower overall nutritional content. What you did was probably a bit overkill, but If they don't get contaminated I guess it's worth it.

Cooking substrates too long induces carmelization of sugars contained within. Carmelization, in turn causes slow colonization and mutations.

Don't overcook your substrate - its not a wise idea.
