My cell phone just beeped at me... wait, no. it didnt

Does that ever happen to you? Alll the time especially when I'm listening to music. I'll hear my phone go off, then go searching for it only to realize it didnt. This happens a lot when its on vibrate too, I'll hear the vibration, or think I feel it if it's in my pocket, but when I check it never did!

It's kinda funny, gets me all the time. It just happened to me twice in less than a minute. The song I'm listening to has beeps in it occasionally, and I check everytime. Sometimes I think to myself, "no, it was just the song" but i STILL feel compelled to check, cuz what if it did beep at me and I miss it? :lol:

that gets me sometimes too.

put the phone face up on the table next to the computer. youll see a light if something happens.

This one Lightning Bolt song that I listen to a lot in my car has this background beep that sounds a lot like the warning beep in my car when I blast it. Every time I think "Shit what's wrong now".

It also happens a lot when I have facebook open. There'll be a "pop" sound and I think someone messaged me.

That's actually a recorded ailment called Phantom Vibration Syndrome. I get it too sometimes, I'll feel a vibration in my leg and think it's my phone ringing, but it isn't. Sometimes, I'll feel a vibration in my left leg, and my phone will be in my right pocket; or vis versa.

gonz - was havin a conversatoin about this the other day, and someone mentioned that article actually, calling it "phantom" vibrations.

I definitely agree with what they say in the article, that it's likely just a result of cell phone habits and our body getting used to something. Think Pavlov's dogs, kinda.

Same.

On a side-note do you guys ever get freaked out when you go to pick up your phone and the very instant you do it, someone calls you? It seems to happen more than I would think. It's obviously just statistics but it's odd to have it happen more than once.

Definitely. I cant tell you how many times I would pick up the phone to call my now ex-girlfriend and she'd call me at that exact moment. That freaked me out a bit a few times, it happened a few times a week actually.
