Trolling in the Pub

Why is trolling against the rules in the Pub?

It is clearly OK to troll the Pub
because there is no one trying to stop it

So why is against the rules?

I stopped notifying mods a long time ago.

Is a huge waste of time IME

Read through a page or two of this thread and tell me why Cypher is still trolling
It's pretty obvious trolling is OK in the Pub based on just this thread.

I didnt see much trolling, I saw joking and bullshitting in a thread asking for a forum we dont need.

If you dont want to notify us when you see a post that you think needs attention then dont complain, You arnt helping by being negetive.


and youre BOM record isnt exactly spotless either.

and for the record i think the pub is better moderated now than it has been in a while since we got some new blood, newbie is a big help and a great mod.

I agree that Newbie is doing a good job, but the vast majority of mods in the Pub simply dont give a fuck anymore.

I cant count the times I have blown the whistle on a post
and find out that someone else had blown the whistle
only to have nothing done about it

I have even seen a mod (Cherrybom) claim that clearly racist remark in the Pub 'wasn't a problem'

when several people called her out on it she gave a really stupid long ban for it

either do your job and mod the fourms
or give your modship up to someone who will

anybody besides night owl have a problem with the pub?

If theres issues that people agree on we can discuss it a bit but i really dont think thers much of a problem, dont fix what aint broked.

The shroomery is never going to be troll free. We mods will get them as we see them, but thats all we can do. :shrug:

Honestly, I do have a slight problem... and I want to say, I do respect all of you, moderators. I have for some time, and you've fostered a very good community here...

but the pub is getting a bit OTDish. Its kind of getting out of hand. I suppose I can start notifying, but it just seems like the overall quality of discussion in the pub has dropped. Maybe it's because of all of the members that joined in the last 6 months flooding it, unaware of the general vibe we've had there. Maybe it's just general trollery bleeding from OTD. But there is definitely lots of trolling and useless banter, post whoring, and yeah... retardation occuring in the pub lately. More than usual really.

I don't envy your job. 1.5 million posts is a lot to sift through. Perhaps consider taking up more moderators, or respelling out the rules to the forum members?

That is due to moderators not doing their job.
Over half of the mods for the Pub rarely post there anymore.

There are only 3-4 mods that even try to keep order in there, and that is far too few TBH.

Mods that no longer post in the Pub should be replaced with people that do post there on a daily basis.

Just because someone has been a mod for XX years does not mean that they still deserve the job.
