Uploading your astral body to the internet

You might recall the hype about virtual reality and virtual communities years ago, much of it being theoretically possible but having numerous technical limitations such as information bandwidth, computing power, etc.  Although computing power and bandwidth increased to some extent, the costs in implementing such a system are still prohibitively expensive.

Those experienced in astral travel are familiar with the adventures it can provide.  Perhaps it may be possible to build electronic devices to alter brain wave patterns necessary to provide such an experience.  Devices have been made already that can alter brain wave patterns and create mental states that resemble the sleep paralysis state in which various phenomena have been reported such as alien abduction and astral travel.  Experiments using these devices were performed at various universities.  Subjects reported experiences such as a feeling of a presence and even seeing grey alien-like beings.  If these devices were developed it may provide a means of controlling out-of-body experiences.  Once developed a system for guiding the astral traveler might be possible.  Some astral travelers have reported being affected or even trapped temporarily when going near electric power lines.  This seems to suggest that electromagnetic fields can be used to guide the astral traveler, perhaps even to an internet based server.  Once at the server, the astral traveler might be able to interface with electronic circuits.  If the brain was studied to find the system in which the astral body interfaces with the brain, this system might be applied to the development of a technology to interface the astral body to computer systems. Once the astral body-computer interface has been developed a new system of virtual reality might be possible.  It might even be possible to make ectoplasm generators.  Ectoplasm has been reported to have been created by various mediums and psychics and is believed to be some sort of material related to the spiritual or astral planes.  If it could be generated artificially, possibly it could be used to make things that the astral traveler can interact with.  Artificially generated astral communities might be possible.  The astral traveler might even be able to "incarnate" into artificially created beings and assume various roles.  Interaction with beings who have passed over to the other side may also be possible.  The possibilities for this type of technology may be endless.  Reality would be redefined.  What the future holds for us we have only to wait and see.

Sorry to reply to a thread that is a tad old but it recieved no replys and i just came across it and found it funny that i was thinking of this exact idea a couple of weeks ago! although not uploading your astral body but simply manipulating astral travel or simply manipulating dreams would be the ultimate virtual reality nothing would be more powerful to work with than the mind.

i think your on to something here mate.

This kinda already happens in online virtual worlds.

If you let yourself enter a deep meditative state, and get absorbed into the game, many times you'll actually feel like your "astral self" is inside the game.  And you can "feel" the other players in the game as well, because your holographic minds are linked together through activation of your right hemsiphere, and altered states.
So youre basically all "uploading"" your astral selves into the server and interacting.  But ONLY, if you all enter that state.
So only a few people, truly "immersed" in the game, can psychically connect as it were.

But Im not just talking entering a game and walking around passively.
Like most people would anyway. Like in WOW, or URU.

Im talking, literally trying to fool your brain into thinking youre actually in the game.  It takes practice but once you get it, youll know what I mean.  Its a shift that happens in your brain, and you can feel it.
Suddenly your space around you takes on the atmosphere of the game, smells and sounds become real, and you become acutely aware of the peoples feelings and thoughts in the game, and can literally hear peoples thoughts before they type out stuff sometimes.  No joke!

I thought I was the only wierdo who experimented with shit like this, but then I found this site....which is the same basic premise.

A thought I've always had was the concept of building some sort of biochemical battery, that produces energy from the decomposition of a human corpse. By hooking this battery up to a server, according to the Laws of Thermodynamics you could literally be inside someone's computer. Since no one really completely understands the nature of consciousness, one could say that your conscious mind could literally be inside of the Internet. Imagine leaving your physical body and existing as energy inside of the Internet. Seems beautiful to me.

Im talking about an actual experience Ive experienced.
Ive done experiments with other people, on an online world, where we play rock paper scissors, in URU which is Myst online.

But instead of trying to beat each other we try to match each other as to what we pick.

Well it turns out our hit rate was somewhere around 87% which is FAR above chance.  Like our minds were connected, once we allowed ourselves to believe we were actually INSIDE the game.
That is the key!

Meaning that when we allow ourselves to replace our reality with the virutal reality, what were actually doing is activating our right brain and forming a "cosmic" connection to the person on the other end.
With the computer as the medium.
Its basically the same as disconnecting from your body during an astral travel, but instead of your brain conjuring up the "world",  the computer does.
But the feeling is totally 100% the same.
From buzzing to seperation, to the feeling of "openess" (best I can describe it)

Its all in the brain switch.
You can feel it when it occurs.
Its like a tingling in your right hemisphere, and then suddenly your world on your side of the computer suddenly takes on qualities of the virtual world as if theyre one.  Its quite bizarre, but very "real" in a sense that you have trouble discerning if its acutally happening or not.

It sounds retarded, and if someone was telling me this, I would just disregard them as crazy. 

Because just like a transcendental experience, its not something you can tell others about with mere words.
Its something they need to experience themselves.
Only then can understanding take place.

But I believe we can all connect to each other in this state.
And if multiple people "connect" during the online virtual world, then ultimately we form quantum connections to each other in the real world, because our brain BELIEVES that we are actually inside the game.
Hence an "uploading" of out astral selves into the same "world"


ITS ALL TO DO WITH BELIEF.
The key is to make your brain TRULY believe you're there.

If you read Holographic Universe by Michalel Talbot, you'll understand how BELIEF plays the BIGGEST role in all of this, and any manipulation of reality.

I realize how stupid and naive this sounds.
But once youve seen what Im talking about, you'll know exactly what I mean.

Im sure many trippers already somewhat understand what Im getting at here.

Very cool experience, I've had the same thing in WoW and RL. In my experience, we don't connect, we are already connected, yet don't realize it.

For me it all started when I asked myself a very simple question.. where do thoughts come from? Then I came to this most amazing discovery, that all thoughts are shared, but because, for some obscure reason, almost everyone's mind is distorted and as a result believing this becomes impossible. Your mind will forever reject this belief and describe it as coincidence.
