Quantum Physics
    #1244489 - 01/24/03 12:22 AM (13 years, 10 months ago)

Who here knows what this is
this is somthing I am very interested in and I am asking this question for 2 reasons
the 1st is that I want to know who here understands it , so maybe I can gain insight or share some , and becaue

I LOVE THIS TOPIC!!!! I want someone else to have the experience I had years ago when my friend Ken started talking about it

oh by the way everything you see isnt real and it "actually" flixers in and out of existence but we are to "slow" to precive it
read up on Quantum Physics .........you wont be sorry......

Look up Robert Anton Wilson, he writes a great book on quantum psychology. Here is a link to the site.

I really like this topic, but unfortunately I'm not so able to speak about it in English... it's difficult enough in my mother tongue!

But you can read also Fritjof Capra "The Tao of Physics" which is a veeeeery interesting book on this topic. It compares the modern physics discoveries to the eastern model of the universe... IT'S AMAZING.

It's not so difficult but if you have already some information on the basic concepts, it's better.

We live in a very complex universe... more than what our actual intelligence could ever imagine!

Peace,

Andrash

Neils Bohr (physicist) said something like "If you learn of quantum physics and are not appalled, then you haven't understood it."

I learned of QP six years ago and I have been appalled ever since.  It's horrible!  Cast not your eyes upon the blasphemy of the Uncertainty Principle and shun the vagaries of fate imposed by the Theory of Inseperability.  Cower before the Holographic Universe!  Beware the quantum madness, young one!  Beware!  Flee!  Bewa-a-a-re....

I'm very interested in QP as well. It's a very abstract science. But there are some basic concepts that relate to it from what i understand.

First of all: The Hologram.

A hologram is projected onto a piece of film so it can be reproduced. If you take that piece of holographic film and cut it in half, both halves will contain the enitre hologram. If you cut each half in half, all four pieces will project the entire hologram. You can keep cutting each piece in half until you have thousands of tiny pieces, and each piece will contain the entire hologram.

So what's the point? Alot of quantam physicists use the hologram as a model for the universe, as Landlotter aludded to. The basic idea is that everything is non-local. That is, nothing is conatined within physical boundaries. Everything is basically swirling in the "holoverse" and can be accessed at any time. But you already knew that thanks to the mushrooms. Your brain doesn't contain your consciousness. It's merely a physical byproduct of your consciousness. Of course its coded in your dna, thats why you grow one at birth.

Another basic concept of QP is that the outcome of any experiment or observation is directly affected by your observation of it. You are a variable in the experiment, and the experiment is really a temporary construct. Your consciousness creates the outcome. Did scientists in Sweeden really teleport light photons? Did the photons exist in two places at once, or did the scientists simply obliterate the original light photons, and simultaneously create new ones? Does it matter? Is this even related to quantam physics? Hell if I know!

I love this topic too, so very intriguing yet still so unknown, there are so many possibilities.
PM me if you want someone to talk with about this stuff, I just love it, and none of my friends seem to understand the first thing about physics.

So how do we know that the universe is constantly blinking in and out of existance? What proof do we have?

What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know,
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?

The most psychedelic aspect of QP for me is the idea that anti-particles are nothing more than particles moving backwards in time. Backwards! In time! I read that in The Dancing Wu Li Masters and threw the book across the room. Backwards! And of course I love how particles can defy the Law of Conservation of Energy in minute enough quantities. A nucleus will sometimes just spontaneously create an extra proton, or whatever. Just because.

And of course there's nothing more psychedelic than the holographic/Bell's Theorom/non-locality idea, but that's been spoken of already.

Backwards goddammit!

Einstein called it "Spooky action at a distance." theory.

You can understand it with mushrooms or LSD.
Everything is connected (and not in a hippie way either... DAMNED HIPPIES!).

I would also be interested in learning about it because what has been said so far really resonates with things that have dawned upon me under the influence of hallucinogens.

I also notice the flickering, in and out, it's kind of like we are made up of waves that have such a high frequency that it's hard to recognize it as such. But you can sense it if you concentrate, it is like watching one of those old projecter movies that flicker in and out...

Figure out if you can generate a frequency that cancels your own out!
Then you could just wink yourself out of existence at a moment's notice!

I think I've done that before... it was a white-light experience. Stepping outside of time, it felt like I existed in a world of my own creation. Then I came back.

I think that if you had winked yourself out of existence, there wouldn't have been any white light

I like to keep things simple.  What I experience is what I experience, and if I'm on drugs, then it's still what I experience.  If you take some acid and end up seeing God, then remember just that...  You TOOK SOME ACID and saw God.

Then try to understand the trip.  Why did I see that?  What changes what I see on trips?  Did the drug affect what I would see, or would any psychedelic have helped me to see it?
That's where you start getting into the interesting stuff IMO

Just like the fact that we can never know exactly where an electron is relative to the nucleus, as even looking at it can change its path.

Who cares if we know where the electron is

Since it's going SOOOO close to the speed of light, we can say that for all intents and purposes, it IS going the speed of light.  And as such, it theoretically exists at all points in space simultaneously.  It's just that from OUR perspective in space/TIME, we see the electron as having an affinity for it's nucleus.  Therefore even though the electron exists everywhere in the universe, it's probability density makes it such that it's only ever REALLY seen right around the nucleus.

Actually Stephen Hawking talks about time travel on a microscopic level.
It has to do with the Feynman equation, and multiple histories, and that one must include these histories with particles that travel faster than light and even backwards in time, and in closed loops.
He says that one cannot observe these particles with closed loop histories, but there indirect effects have been measured my a number of experiments.
Such as a small shift in light given out by hydrogen atoms, caused by electrons moving in closed loops.
Another is a small force between parallel metal plates, this force is created because there are slightly fewer closed loop histories that can fit between the plates, compared to the region outside.
