Question on perlite humidification

Hola all. I am new here and have a question on perlite. I have friend that has a ooo i would have to guess 4x2x2 rubbermaid tote he is using as his incubation chamber and the damn hygrometer wont go over 92%, is this too low to initiate pinning? O and it is one of thoes shitastic plastic 4.99 hygro's from a pet store. Are thoes worth a damn or should i invest in a good one. Thankya all.

I saw pinning develop at lower than 92% so honestly you should be fine

Do not trust the hygrometer.  Some of them can not go over 92%, some 85%, etc.  If there is a good amount of condensation on the terrarium's walls, you should be fine.  :smile:

mine stopped working recently as well. I went the perlite route and now I have no worries. Use 1/2" water and 2" perlite and you'll be fine.
