Ashland, Eugene or Portland? Maybe Olympia

I'm living in Portland but I have to say the grass isn't always greener on the other side.  Big city I feel like I'm surrounded by people and there's no such thing as true nature, just these tamed cut down parks that people trick themselves into feeling like they're in nature when they're actually surrounded by human built paths, light poles, concrete and fucking water that comes from a drinking fountain.

I'm wondering if a Move further south to one of the smaller towns would be a good idea.  Maybe it'd be more nature oriented. I could get out and do what I enjoy.

What do you guys think of these areas?  There's also north. Olympia.

Forest Park is really nice. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forest_Park_(Portland,_Oregon)

I would suggest staying in Portland for now because you just moved their recently and you won't really be totally assimilated until you've lived their longer. Plus i'm probably moving to Portland in August so we can hang out.

The last thing Olympia needs is more hippies.  It's like Portland with even less jobs.

you aren't going to find your definition of nature inside any oregon city. you have to go out into the wilderness, duh. find a city anywhere in the world that accomplishes what you want and i would like to visit it.

Sounds like an idea.  I kinda want to just move west to the coast, but jobs out there are probably hard to find too.

I'm from the Sierras, so by Nature I'm used to Vast expanses of pine forests and huge deserts as far as the eye can see.  Some hills/mountains in the desert.  Till you hit the rubies not much though...  Monsterous sierras tho.
