Well i'm talking about how everyone believed in the all mighty bible and now with science it goes to show how all

it was was a bunch of stories put together. There are those who like to stick there head in the sand and not believe

in dinosaurs and evolution. We dont have bible studies in school or anything like that anymore which is good. Religion really

only causes problems in my view it just creates problems with whole my god is better then your god.

I personally believe religion was originally created to simply explain that which couldn't be explained at the time. But as time progressed and did people, it became a device for control. You can revolt against a city hall, but how can you revolt against an omniscent, omnipotent being?

I think that there was a time when humans had more wisdom then they do now.  It is my belief that there are sometimes humans who for one reason or another, seem to embody that more complete state of human being, and we base religions off of their actions, or words, trying to capture it however we can.

Too often humans get so caught up with the avatar, they miss the whole point, that the wisdom lies inside of each of us, if only we take the the time to seek it.

When we overfocus on the individual's words or deeds, we lose the entire picture, the message is lost, and we often end up behaving worse, then if we had never discovered the path of that particular "enlightened being".

Why do you believe/think these things?

There seems to be evidence all over the world that ancient civilizations had some higher knowledge then later folks, including ourselves, such as the Egyptians and their seemingly impossible architectural feats, or the oil wells the Chinese dug back the 3rd century.

As for the beings who embody that more complete state, well I admit I believe in this only because of personal subjective experiences that I have had since myself striving to become more complete.

What kind of "higher knowledge"?

I've never heard of those, can you provide a source?

What do you mean by "more complete"? What subjective experiences have you had regarding this?

Shit. I give up. google the oil wells if you are actually interested, that is pretty common knowledge. I should't have entered an argument I wasn't enthusiatic enough about to pursue, but I don't really wanna argue this one, or open up my personal experiences for a shroomery dissection.

Egyptians and their seemingly impossible architectural feats,

And how do you think they'd feel about us putting a man on the moon?

Humans of the past having some superior knowledge is pure myth imo.

the original intent was to keep people in line when something started getting a little out of hand... people took it way to serious, and for all the wrong reasons, invented a god to make sure that people would follow these "rules" or you go to hell. the intentions were good, but they knew people wouldnt listen unless there were some type of ultimate consequences, consequences that CANNOT be proven. people actually believed it came from god, when in my opinion it came from a dude with a shitload of common sense, just didnt know how to send a meaningful message to a meaningless world so they used god. it worked. and now time has gone by so long, it fucking backfired. now people believe they go to church for a good reason, and most skeptical people have figured out by now that time changed the intent, almost to the exact opposite of when it began...

How do those prove that they had higher knowledge than us? With all of our technology today, we are certainly capable of building pyramids.

Also, there are many things today that we have created which ancient civilzations didn't, and presumably weren't able to--so how, again, did they have "higher knowledge" than us? :undecided:

i think where we are is nothing. it could be the extent of technology or advancement or whatever... but i feel more like this planet is just a blink of an eye in the perspective of the entire universe. this is as far as it is where we are... who knows when day 1 was? how long its been here, how many times its been wiped out, if its been wiped out. ultimately it's a waste of time to ponder this far, but it depends on how curious you are i guess.

Thousands of years later we can start being able to do what they did. I didn't claim they had higher knowledge, I just agree that the pyramids were nearly impossible architectural feats.
