Well, I have overcome it pretty much, and I had crushing major depression. Zoloft sure helps me.

I have.  I ate healthy too.  In fact, I've been eating healthy and exercising for years now and I'm still extremely depressed and I still plan on killing myself sometime in the future.  I always knew since a young age that I wouldnt live past age 30.  I wont either, but until then I just lie to myself to fuel my continual existance.

My advice is deal with your problem as soon as possible and dont wait, because it'll become you...as in, your general character will be formed into a miserable one, people will dislike you and that will contribute to your problems even more.

You may think i'm a facist pig but you need medical help and i bet ADs would help you. Lexapro, prozac, anything. Don't let a stupid disease kill you if you can easily beat it with modern medicine!

Taking ADs are not easy in any way, shape, or form...

Therapy should always be the first treatment. It doesn't always seem like it, but just talking helps substantially. It doesn't even have to be about depression...

It's true that therapy should be pursued, but it's also true that in some, or indeed most, cases of severe emotional difficulty, treatment requires medication. Period.

The brain can't be thrown in reverse. You can't unlearn years of bad programming by just talking to a therapist. That's like trying to construct the statue of liberty without a crane. Getting the added help of medication can be the difference between a speedy recovery and suicide.

I agree, 100%. I'm just saying, try therapy first, if it's not enough or if the therapist recommends it, try medication. Meds should never be the first treatment. A psychiatrist is never gonna say,  "I don't think you should be on medication."

It's all about balance... if the severity merits medication, then the side effects will be "worth it." But in many cases, the meds are just gonna make a person feel even more like shit... and in that case, they shouldn't be on them at all. A psychiatrist is just gonna say, "let's try something else" or he'll add even more meds to treat the side effects.

I knew a guy that was on these AD meds...he went on a shooting spree in Portland a couple of years ago.

But like I said, I've planned this out at a young age.

thanks man...really im totally against them..and for the people that do use them and helps..im very happy for them, but i have no desire to go on them.

thats why i plan on starting on something mild like st johns wort and 5htp...

and thanks to google i can search for natural stuff.

I would drop the 5-htp and go for having a hot cup of organic milk before bed. The st johns wort is good. also try siberian ginseng (otherwise known as eleuthero), gotu kola (centella asiatica), and brahmi aka bacopa
