Hypnosis pt2
    #12136791 -

This morning before i left for work i wanted to make a thread about hypnosis, then Ahimsa beat me to it  :shakefist:

Anyway, the question i wanted to ask is, what makes you susceptible to hypnosis?

To take a look at how the minds influenced by phenomenal presences
We question lots of peoples thinking, but do we question our own?
Isit merely the ability to question thoughts that enables one to resist hypnotism or to actually become 'dehypnotized' from life itself?

authority is a big one

also if something makes more sense than our previous belief we tend to take it as truth quicker

also if you want it to be true it is easier to believe is

just re read the question and noticed it was what makes you susceptible rather than how do we come to believe things so im not quite sure how to answer that.

We go in and out of hypnotic levels all day long, whether it's 'highway hypnosis/white line fever,' or surfing the TV remote, or 'daydreaming,' or entering sleep, or having someone talk to you while you're sleeping, and responding (hypnosleep). Now, if someone yawns, even on TV, and you yawn, then that's hypnotic suggestion. Subliminal audio and visuals in films and magazines, TV evangelists like Jimmy Swaggart, who we studied with the volume off on the TV...There's lots!

ive always wondered if young children yawn when they see someone yawn or if it is some sort of learned social behaviour driven by the need to fit in or something.

I often yawn when im walking into a room & my sister is already yawning so its not just a visual thing
I feel it as a release of energy that triggers releases in other energetic pulsations

It's a matter of 'suggestion.' I'll walk into a class with a notebook that has the words "Yawn" and "Yawn Now," on either side. I'll walk back and forth in front of the class talking about something or the other, and within a few minutes, 1/2 to 3/4 of the kids are yawning. Then I'll get into suggestion and subliminal ads.

How about walking into a class with a notebook that has "Study hard!" on one side and "Pay attention!" on the other?

Good point actually. If one can learn self-hypnosis, say, with a Chevreul pendulum, such two word suggestions can and do work. In a waking state, the one or two single syllable words, in conjunction with a response that can easily be triggered by lower oxygen consumption (lethargic students) plus suggestion is easy.
