New pic for contam FAQ?
    #1207737 - 01/10/03 05:07 PM (21 years, 1 month ago)

I have three cakes and a casing that refuse to pin. They began to take on a pinkish color, had no smell. The past 48 hours purple spots are growing. It dont look good. The cakes and casing are penningtons wild bird seed innoculated with mycelium via honey water. No mushroom smell either.

Any ideas welcome. I have other grows that have been in the same chamber. Should I just burn down the house and start over  or try to finish the cakes and casings showing no contams?

Carefully move the healthy cakes out of the chamber and put them in a clean terrarium. You might dunk the healthy cakes in a mild H2O2 solution for a couple of minutes to kill spores that have settled on them.
Discard the contaminated cakes.

Done. Thanks Anno!

I Cleaned out my pining chamber with an alcohol/water mix and new perlite, then dryed. Then I transfered everything that was not affected into it, and cleaned out my fruiting chamber. I removed 3 cakes and one casing tripple bagged them up and am ready to toss them. Hopfully it is handled now.

One non-infected cake I dunked in h20/h202 is very blue now and has a small puddle of blue draining from it, must be somthing active in there
