I Think there is one important thing everyone is forgetting. DO NOT SMELL.
Last time i did that i had a sore throate for a week.
Remember there could be some more dangerous pathagens which could cause some serious problems especialy with agar cultivation.

well how bout some super stanky shit in jar. Some kind of bacteria that smells like synthetic popcorn flavor tastes. First whiff i got of it i thought of jelly belly popcorn flavored beans.

Hey, I just got some of that green stuff too I think. This is my first time also and I'm using a Myco bag. Got started under sterile conditions and everything was going good. I had about 1/4 of the bag white with mycelium, all on one side of the bag. I last checked Sunday and it was fine, today I give a look and on the side without the mycelium are tiny little green spots. Is it doomed?

in that picture that juxtaposes the mould from the mycelium, which one is the mould? the really white one, or the off white one?

the very white one, on the right is the mycelium, and the cobweb is the more grey colored wispy looking one on the left. As for getting mold or a contam in your jar, yeah, your fucked, time to dump it out, throw the jar in a bucket of bleach, or some similar way of cleaning the jars (bleach always seems like the easiest and most effective way to me), and give it an other wack.

This was a pretty nasty syringe Id assume cause all the jars ended up like this... glad It was a trade and not a vendor

there were yellows, greens, slimes and even some white, some brown and black mold looked evident but everything that turned black then became something else so who knows... Looks very poisonious almost toxic... didnt bother to smell

wow nice pics. I read it all and viewed all the pics. Im gonna post pics if I see any possible contams. Heres some advice:

1. the most important: if theres alot of contam and it cant be saved, dont bothe opening the jar, throw it away. dont even smell it. much better to waste a jar then a visit to the hospital!

2. early mycellum looks like cobweb, but it usually isnt. observe the growth rate. cobweb overtakes the jar in less than a week and never turns white. mycellum may be gray or transparent in thin areas or the edges of it.

3. use a pressure cooker and cook for 45 min. flame sterilize the syringe each jar you innoculate

4. haste makes waste  :crazy:

so how about adding some solutions to contam problems in this thread. Does anyone know about the Vodka Tek to combat green mold? Could you post a link to it or a brief description.

And what about treating cobweb mold on casings with hydrogen peroxide. Just mist it on the mold early and repeat a couple times a day for the first few days. Stir the soil around a bit where the cobweb mold was the first time you mist it (with something clean of coures, not your hands) and then watch to see if that took care of it. (h202 doesnt harm mycelium). I only know that this works with cobweb mold and on casings. I haven't tried or heard of it fixing anything else, but i know it is no help against green mold.
