Newb weird contam help needed please

2 of my jars are showing a rust colored line that is growing around the most rigorus mycellium growth. someone in cult. suggested lipstick, but the pics from the contam faq are wayy to red to be this stuff.. plus, it is growing only on the outside edge of the most rigorous mycellium that is already grwing over the older mycellium...what is this stuff? should I cut this shit out and birth tonight because they are about 90% colonized?...

Are the colored spots moving along with the growth of the mycelium? Are they growing? Does it look kinda like a liquid or gel? Can you post a pic?

i think you are having the same problem as me. yesterday i birthed the questionable cakes and boy did they stink. i would toss them.

It could be rust or impurities in the water. When the water in the colonizing jar condenses on the lid of the jar, the holes made for innoculation could begin to rust. Then, the water will end up at the bottom due to temperature change or movement. Either that, or your water could have a high concentration of copper or iron. When a friend of mine used well water(Don't!), the water ended up depositing a layer of brown/copper crud at the bottom.

well. i took out the cakes and split one open and there was a line of the tuff running theough the cakes so i tossed em.. better safe than sorry.
but im still sorry
