Yes, we no longer have need of gods and mythics warriors, but we do need a new greeter at the local Wall-Mart.

I listen to classical. And several of the bands you mentioned. But you're just pissed because you thought you were cool listening to the Doors back in the day and slowly realized they were pop, and by that time you realized they were OLDIES. :satansmoking: Kind of like kids who listened to Nirvana twenty years ago and thought they were the only ones, until they got their wake-up call when Cobain died and their entire middle school was mourning. Now Nirvana's oldies too and can be heard in acoustic versions for elevators.

You might be one of only a very few who consider the Doors pop. Ever listen to Celebration of the Lizard?:hellfire:

It wasn't popular with my dad.

All music that makes even a buck would then be popular music.

Using music as a point in ones argument about the decline of culture is hilarious. To me, with the digital age and internet the flow and exchange of ideas is increased greatly - I can use a number of websites to sniff out some pretty weird shit, artists that would have gone almost totally unnoticed in an age where we couldnt download and enjoy music like we do with the internet. But of course the pop scene is the pop scene and it rears it head in every age and almost anywhere.

I for one kinda dig the whole internet transformation, for the most part, but just like anything - you have to put yourself "in the know" and think for yourself - just like anyone needs to do in any age no matter the specific environment... at least we are not all born in fucking Iran or something, count thine blessings!

Yeah like King Crimson, Hendrix, Bluetech, and the Doors.

Those are pop music.

Hmmmm, not so sure I would call any of that POP as in structure, well I guess the doors did some poppy stuff here and there, hendrix, mayyyybe.... but they arent what I would consider poppy structure, no?

Granted they were immensely POPULAR, I am not a big fan of either. KC is far from pop, thats slightly unknown prog rock really. Bluetech, well thats psybient stuff, not poppy, just hippie do lots of psychedelics music :sunny:

Che Gevaura was a murderer and I hate how Hollywood put him out to be some sort of great guy, fuck that! How can you even compare him along with...Malcolm X?

Maybe because Malcom X was a thief and murderer also. Just maybe.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Pop music being a style rather than Popular. Like  barry manilow  is what I think of when you say Pop music.
