And let's not forget all the atrocities that were perpetuated under the guise of this God you find possible. Cause this idea is just more propaganda to keep the church in control by keeping you from asking questions. You assume it's just better to go with the flow just incase.

The consequences of believing in God if he does not exist are nothing compared to the consequences of NOT believing in God if he DOES exist.

Can you imagine the far reaching consequences of this type of thinking?:nono:

The consequences of believing in vampires if they do not exist are nothing compared to the consequences of NOT believing in vampires if they DO exist. And fhe consequences of believing in the boogie man if he does not exist are nothing compared to the consequences of NOT believing in the boogie man if he DOES exist. If you believe out of fear, HOW CAN YOU HAVE A REAL EXPERIENCE OF GOD? ONLY BELIEVING BECAUSE OF THE CONSEQUENCES SHOWS NO RESPECT FOR THE PURPOSE AND LOVE. YOU ARE ONLY SCARED OF REPRECUSSIONS.

Why are you yelling?

YOU ARE ONLY SCARED OF REPRECUSSIONS.

IMO this is where, in one way or another, subtle or not so subtle, all belief in god comes from.:satansmoking:

I agree that fear is one place the belief in God comes from but not the only. But ultimately one who has a real connection with God has that connection not out of fear but out of love. They may be spurred to act more righteously but that doesn't creat the connection with god. It's just doing part of what God wants you to do. The other part is having a relationship with your redeemer.
Either way I respect your point, albeit I don't agree. I'm sorry we've gotten off on the wrong foot, but I like your enthusiasm for your beliefs. Maybe we can find a medium we agree on.

Faith as defined by Pascal, in this case, is a terrible failure. His very wager was so crappy people began doubting God because of it.

Faith according to Pascal's wager is not believing in something that can't logically be proven. It's about believing in something that seems beneficial for you to believe in in case it turns out to be true. Very economical.

Doesn't the "the vast number of faiths in this world" hint that there is most likely no unifying God behind them? Unless of course, "he" wants us to believe in different Gods or no Gods at all, because "he" truly is benevolent and doesn't care at all what we believe in but rather enjoys seeing us exist. A benevolent God would like that we are not who or how we are, I should think (if reason applies as well on Earth as in God's realm).

I truly enjoy what you have to say here in the end and I believe that to be the case.

Born into a faith does not necessarily mean you believe it. I believe a benevolent god would be indifferent to what we choose to believe.

My friend on here Capmeh once told me that as a human condition we fear the unknown....death and what occurs after it. That being said we created faith and religion as a way to sooth our unknown fears. Believing in some force to decide our fates gives us a sense in direction. Just a way to think about the use of religion.

Sure lets start again.

It's just doing part of what God wants you to do.

God wants me to rape kill and take my enemies lands.

Now if I do that there will be real love between us.

Now unless you can claim to know the mind of god, a being far beyond your abilities, how can you know I am wrong?

So

Premise 1: God wants me to rape kill and take my enemies lands.

Premise 2: Now if I do that there will be real love between us.

Conclusion: Now unless you can claim to know the mind of god, a being far beyond your abilities, how can you know I am wrong?

your conclusion is a red herring. Your premises are plausible but your conclusion is not valid. Its simply a blind statement as to which we are trying to solve off of your assumed conclusion.

Your conclusion should be what your second premise is.

Though I see where you are trying to come from. You would be no more correct then I would be for you do not know the mind of a being far beyond our abilities

Well I can only know your wrong for the basis of the fact that what I think could be right also.

By me saying god doesnt want you to do those things would make me no more correct then saying yes he does.

You can't and I can't and that's my point about any belief in a god. Once you state making claims for what it want's then you're full of :holyshit:
