The greater truth behind PASCALS WAGER
    #14723044 -

For those that do not know it, Pascal's wager is a way of justifying belief in the christian God.

IF you believe in God and there IS a god then you go to heaven. WIN. If there is no God then you die. FAIL.

IF you don't believe in God and there IS a god then you go to hell. FAIL. If there is no God then you die. FAIL.

Whether or not you think dying is a fail is up to you but the point is that the results cancel out and we see that believing in god end up with MORE win and LESS fail - than not believing.

But there is a severely missed problem with this dillema. It is related to other big issues in the philosophy of religion.

It assumes that there are two options: God vs NOgod.

Is this a good dichotomy? Can you see anything wrong with it?

Well, the biggest problem is that it does not define God very well. Is God the bastard of the bible?

As soon as we open the possiblity of other sorts of God then the wager falls apart. We find that there is this crucial possibility matrix:

IF you believe in Xtian God and there is a Cool-dude-God then you FAIL because he does not respect bitches who have faith in some crappy ass hypocriitical government-devised holy book, and sends you to hell.

IF you dont believe in Xtian God and there is a Cool-dude-God then you MIGHT WIN because he respects the FACULTY OF REASON that he created and therefor likes the fact that you used it rather than believing some bullshit fed to you at sunday school by pedophiles

CONCLUSION: The conclusion here is that belief in God does not secure you a heavenly afterlife for the basic fact that God might not respect your ignorant faith, even though you thought he would.
