If an actual zombie apocalypse would occur the most important thing would be to establish a human base. With fuckload of weapons and supplies. It would be cool if a small infection turns a little town into zombies and you would have to kill them all.

A .22 semi-automatic rifle would be my weapon of choice, as mentioned above by another poster. Explosives and the like are worthless - the only way to destroy a zombie is by destroying the brain and brain stem. A .22 bullet is more like to bounce around inside the brain casing, doing as much damage as possible. Ammunition would also be easy to find.

As a back-up, I would carry either a crowbar or a spade (the Germans used them as a melee weapon in WW1, as well as an entrenchment tool) for the utility as well as melee potential.


haha.  it is clear we have both read the survival guide.  trusty .22 and the combat spade aka the lobo. 

when i get back to the states, i'm going to buy the shovel i linked to keep in my car.  it's only like 17 bucks on amazon.  and it can actually have practical applications beyond zombie apocalypse survival.  also, i totally want to learn to throw it like a hatchet.  because that'd be badass, albeit totally impractical by zombie fighting standards.

But seriously, given the average age of Shroomerites.. Picture a friendly wrestle between you and 12yo kid brother and his two friends. You try to push them away, they try to bite you. One bite and its all over for you. Would you win?

There are plenty of stories of grown adults who got the shit kicked out of or stabbed by a small group of street kids. Even the friendly wrestle would have a serious amount of chance involved that you would end up bitten.

Now picture a fight where anything goes where you wield your trusty chainsaw or machete and you are attacked by your neighbors three rottweiler dogs.




Think you won't get bitten? Not bloody likely!
Not enough? Now picture them feeling no fear or pain.

Never underestimate your opponent. When a few zombies are at you, its all over so you should never let them get close.

Yeah if they got within arms length you're fucked.. especially if they are of the 28 days later kind because they're always spewing infected blood around too...  so you get bit or a bit of blood splats into your eye or mouth.... you realise you have around 20 seconds to live.

You try to have one last wank but fail to climax..you shout 'FFFUUUU' and die with your pen0r out, then you're the laughing stock of the zombies because your penis is hanging out.

chainsaw isn't such a great idea unless you're like in a pinch.  but as a long-term survival weapon, it's a pretty bad idea.  first off, it's extremely loud, which is a huge no no.  it's big, heavy, and awkward.  and worst yet, it requires fuel every hour or less. 

the only practical use of the chainsaw i could see would be a last stand move of desperation, or perhaps for compound defense.  for example, you could have strategic slits in the fence about neck high where you could get the zombs clambering around outside the fence. 

then again, you might not even want to do that.  because those few zombies keeping your perimeter company can actually serve the function of watchdogs, should any survival raiding parties come round your parts looking to do some looting.

If I were you I'd drive a few nails in the top of the bat so that the ends of the nails stick out. Better penetration = a better efficiency.

I think a crossbow bolt that has acid release mech on the tip would work pretty neatly (if shot to the brain).

ok then...i want a pump and semi auto 12 gauge combat shotgun...so if it jams i just rack the slide to clear it and keep shooting. oh and piss on this 000 buck crap, i want rifled slugs. . .gives a shotgun a bit of range and it'll leave a hole the size of a bowling ball in a deer - i bet the arms come off a humanoid.

and i want one of the Cold Steel (tm) liquid nitrogen tempered kukri machetes.  they don't call em coconut loppers for nothing ( the slang in indonesia for a man's head is coconut ) and topping a zombie seems to be a good way to slow em down.

I imagine a situation where you're surrounded by living dead and you jump around with a katana all Kill-Bill-batchit-insane and chopin' em' up.
If you were in a plane urban place and you had to attract zombies (assuming that there aren't any around) what would you do? I'd play that "It's OK to be gay" song.
