Re: Perlite tek, filters?
    #11610 -

I have a question on the perlite tek also. I am planning on having a seperate tupperware with my perlite. I am pumping air underneath my perlite then another tube goes to my terrarium. I have no perlite in my terrarium. Will this raise my himidity enough?

I have heard that you can use a coffee filter or a dust mask. If you have money you can buy a replacement filter for a hepa air filter and fit that over your air pump container.

Humidity, yes it will work fine. I use rippers perlite tek, which is basically them same thing. The only difference is you use a 1 quart jar instead of a tupperware container. The humidity will reach 100% within an hour. I like this humidification technique. It allows for humidity and airflow all in one.

BTW: Be sure to add peroxide to the water in the jar. Also, be sure to filter all air that is pumped through the jar. This means placing the pump inside a filtered box. I tried this without the peroxide or filtered air. I wound up with a funny colored jar of perlite. You will also need to change the perlite every so often. It tends to turn into a dusty sediment at the bottom of the jar.
