my cat's hair seems dry and dull all of a sudden

It's usually soft, silky and shiny... but just in the last week or so I've noticed it doesn't feel right, dry/coarse and looks dull, never seen it like this

I was thinking maybe it's because we switched their brand of food recently... but the other 3 cats are just fine. :shrug:

he's just over 2 years old, very healthy otherwise, gets his shots and all that

also seems to be more reclusive/less active than normal

anyone know why this might be?... should I take him to the vet maybe?

I'm a bit worried :sad:

maybe he's seasonally depressed?

it could very well be a reaction to the new food, just because the other cats are fine doesn't rule out a weird reaction for him.

we can't find the other food now though because the pet shop we got it closed down... can't find it anywhere else

hopefully he adjusts

well cats clean themselves by licking them self right?, maybe the cat got bummed out about the food and in protest deciding to stop clean it's self?  You should just start licking your cat so it doesn't have to.

its probably the food.

Add a quarter or half teaspoon of olive oil to your cat's food.  It should help.

what type of food are you feeding him? he could very well just be adjusting to the new food and taking longer at doing so than the other cats. if it persists for more than another week or seems to get worse i would see about getting him a different food or taking him to the vet for routine blood work, etc.
