Just got back from the mental health hospital

I had some severe depression and bad social phobias most of my life. Then a couple years ago I started using opiates heavily to self medicate myself. On top of that I also had a bad habit with xanax!When I was there I developed a bad stomach virus. So it was a crash course to say the least. It was very difficult in the beginning because I was not given anything for withdrawal symptoms. but I stuck in there

There was a wide variety of people there with problems... there were people with drug problems, there was a 45 year old who thought he was 14, people with full blown schizophrenia, and an old man with dementia who shit on peoples beds. It was an interesting group to say the least

My roommate had issues too. One night he made a 'joint' with tea leaves and toilet paper wrapping. He took the lead out of a pencil to stick in an electrical socket and make a spark to light the 'joint'!

Now that I am out, I feel like a new person! I am off opiates for the first time since I started, and I feel absolutely great! I still got that stomach virus but I feel good. I was in such a deep dark hole that I never thought in a million years id get out. but I made it!

With enough effort, life gets better.

oh yea! I forgot to mention the cute young girl who was in porn and/or photoshoots! I pretty much hung out with her and another sweet girl there the majority of the time. Got both of their numbers but the porno girl is heavily into shooting up so I will probably not contact her. The other girl was such a sweetheart and we are gonna go to meetings together.

I was at a mental hospital this past summer because I had a psychotic episode (really strange since nothing like that has happened ever before or since...).  There were so many nuts there and I was actually somewhat normal.  They drugged me for a while, but I'm off 'em now. :smile:

The day I left the hospital, seeing the whole wide world again for the first time in 8 days... sun was pouring, trees were glowing, I was beaming with happiness and a sense of rebirth.  Similar to a psychedelic afterglow.

I imagine 1/2 the people in there are in the throes of nicotine withdrawal that exacerbates their dementia.

At the place I was at, they had smoking breaks.  Not very many though (three a day).  I actually pretended to smoke cigarettes (I mean, I actually smoked them but normally I don't smoke) just in order to be allowed outside into the small court area where smokers were sent.

Good luck man, and glad to hear you're doing okay.  Opiates are a bitch and a half, alright... I'm almost a month clean from heroin myself.  Stick with it!  The honeymoon period of sobriety where you feel great and never want to do opiates again will eventually go away, and that's when real hard work is necessary.
