The mental health of Shroomerites
    #5898889 - 07/25/06 05:19 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

I consistently see threads in the physical & mental health forum that detail significant emotional problems. This aroused my curiosity as to how serious some of these problems have been for my fellow Shroomerites. So, I devised an anonymous poll:
The extent of my emotional problems (pick one)
You may choose only one

At any time in one's life. The depression or suicidal thoughts do not have to have occurred while you were registered here.

Suffering from severe deppresion, and contemplating suicide are misleading options. I picked the suicide one, but everyone has thought about it at some point.
A better last option would be attempted suicide.

Hm...good point. I don't think I can change it now though.

Oh wait, I'll just put it in this post:
Have you ever attempted suicide
You may choose only one

yeah, that question is also misleading many people attempt it, not trying to die.

I have personally tried to kill myself while i was 17... somewhat disapointing realising that what you have isnt sharp enough to rupture the vein.....

wow flash back.

In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption"

Being kidnapped and hauled off to some facility would make me pretty depressed too.

I had a problem in 1984, that I thought that would be the answer,it wasn't, thats what drove me to believe in God again.

attempting suicide could also be construed as wanting to, but not really trying hard enough to even remotly come close to doing at all.....

vs say something seroius like a major drug overdose, or something like light cutting of the wrists, then being like "man this sucks" and not doing it anymore, but then doing it again later, and repeat.

I figure everyone alive has brushed the thought of suicide through their mind at least once in their life. It's an option available to every human. Not unusual at all, in my opinion.

People who haven't contemplated such a thing can consider themselves fortunate. (or ???)

I've seriously contemplated suicide about 2 or 3 times in my life, but never actually attempted it.

I actually thought I had stumbled on a suicide cult when I first started posting here.

As for depression. I've had it well before I started doing drugs.
It went from being numb, to uncontrolable crying, to numb, and now I'm okay.
