how to slow down fruiting for a few days
    #1147166 - 12/16/02 09:55 PM (13 years, 11 months ago)

Hello friends. My cakes are going to be ready to fruit soon which is very pleasant but as the holidays are coming too, I wanted to leave my place for a few days and for that time I would not be able to take care of my aquarium ie unable to harvest and nobody else will. So I would like to know whether there is a way to slow down fruiting for a week or so, for instance by cooling them down to a temp close to zero. Thanks for your ideas.

i wondered the same thing. apparently (i've read here) you can put them in ziploc bags in the fridge, and they stall their growth for a bit. haven't tried it, but glad to be able to get you started in this thread. presumably if they've got no pins or fruit coming off them now, maybe you can fruit them individually in clean jars in the fridge? just a thought.

yes if you get them cooled down, growth will slow down alot. I wouldn't recommend temperatures around 0 though
