Slow Pins
    #967407 - 10/16/02 09:23 PM (21 years, 5 months ago)

What are one's options if pinning is occuring at a slow rate. For instance, if one were to have 1 fully grown mushroom, and THEN a set of 10 or so pins, would it be fair to say that the yield will be small? It would seem that in taking so much time, it is lowering it's chances of pinning more. Is one wrong to assume that perhaps the first flush may contain a mere 15 mushrooms? This is a rather large casing, and it's not clear whether or not using roughly 6 jars was worth it. Is cold shocking on option? Like I said, what are the options for someone in this situation? Thanks.

Dont cold shock it if its already has pins.

Just let it go....Keep up whatever you are doing...or possibly what you are doing is making them abort. You might be fanning too much, reducing rH. Temps might be too cold, or the rH could be too low.

how long has it been pinning?
it takes cubensis at least a week to grow from pin to decent mushroom.
if pins arent maturing fairly quickly, first check for any signs of contamination, then check enviromental parameters.
for pin development temps should be around 80f, humidity around 98%, at least several hours of light a day, and plently of fresh air by fanning at least 4 times a day or running some sort of air exchange system.
