ziplock colonizing
    #928812 - 10/03/02 04:49 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

half way through colonizing and i decided it was time to give em fresh air... ive been keeping each individual jar in ziploc bags .... (trial and error with contams have led me to beleive theres alot of crap flyin in the air at my house) ... i just restarilized my "steril room" and put jars in new baggis with fresh air and loosened the lids a bit.    is there enough fresh air in the baggies to finish the colonizing completly or will i have to do this again??? thanx!

If you made a vermiculite layer you may be too paranoid.

Our lab technicians also use ziplocks on every jar.

...it just seems like a good idea to me. especially if your not washing your hands every time before checking your jars. i cant imagine the amount of bacteria build up on the outside of jars even when washing hands regularly.
