For an alcohol lamp, you can build one of these for like $1.



I recommend denatured alcohol from the hardware store(paint section) for a fuel source. 

Just use a small squat jelly jar or baby food jar.  Poke a good sized hole in the center and a few small ones around the rim.  Stuff in some cotton, or paper towel or old rag for a wick.

I know someone else mentioned it already, but here's a little more info on the temps.

Rate of growth at 86F was exactly the same as rate of growth at 72F, with fastest growth as said, occurring between 75F and 81F. Note that these tests were for linear growth in the two-dimensional plane of a petri dish. In three-dimensional space such as in grain jars or bulk substrates, the effects of thermogenesis need to be considered, so ambient temps should be lowered slightly to compensate.

Have you seen any other grow log on here? lol. I have long term microsocpy experiments and I need to be self sustainable... but I can definitly understand your concern. Do you think it would be a good idea to edit them out?
