I'm a professional Body Piercer, and it's not gaugeing your ears. Gauge is the unit of measurement of the jewelry. You have to stretch your ear to get the gauge in, but anyway. I have 1 3/16 ears, I know quite a few people that have large lobes and have jobs. Also if you're ever interested in closing them that can be done. Let me know I can point you to the right direction.

Gauging is slang for stretching, being a licensed piercer I would think you'd know that.

I'm at the same gauge. Take them out when you go interview for jobs. I wear mine at my job now because they can't make you take them out at most places anymore, instead they have to be clear or flesh colored.

I'm confused. 00 is pretty small I don't see why you would ever have a problem with that. Girls wear pearl earrings that are similar in size.

Why? at that size they can clearly see the holes in your ears, it's not the same as taking out a lip or nose ring lol.

Yes it's SLANG just that, it's not the proper term however. Saying gauging to a piercer just makes yourself look retarded. It will get you laughed at, either when you leave or in your face. Either way call it what it is. YOU CAN'T VERB A NOUN!

Main Entry: 1gauge
Variant(s): also gage \ˈgāj\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English gauge, from Anglo-French
Date: 15th century

2 : an instrument for or a means of measuring or testing: as a : an instrument for measuring a dimension or for testing mechanical accuracy b : an instrument with a graduated scale or dial for measuring or indicating quantity

4 : a function introduced into a field equation to produce a convenient form of the equation but having no observable physical consequences

It's slang, of course it isn't a proper term.
Whenever someone asks me about gauging their ears, I don't laugh, that would make me look stupid if anything. I just tell them what size tapers they should go from and that's it. Many pierces use both terms so I don't really know what you're talking about.

I'm glad you went to whatever dictionary site you used then copy and pasted all of the definitions to prove that a slang definition wouldn't be in there.

Yeah know arguing on the internet is like winning a medal in the special Olympics, even if you win. You're still a retard, so in a way we're both right. Personally I try to educate the public. No high horse at all, most people I correct are glad I do so. It helps them find what their looking for easier. Of course doing it in a way thats non-egotistical. It all comes up to the person. In fact I myself at one time called it gauging until one day I was corrected about it. From a veteran of over 18 years in the industry. Which in all honesty I respect his opinion far more then I do someone on a internet forum. (not to be a dick, just stating facts)

This phrase is so old and overused it's not even funny anymore.

I'm not even arguing, I don't care what you call it but to say other people are wrong by using a slang term is just stupid. It doesn't really matter how long the person who "corrected" you was in the business for, especially since 18 years ago it wasn't as big a fad as it is nowadays so I could understand why he didn't understand today's slang.

Ah, that explains it.  Typical know-it-all noob.  We get a few thousand just like you register here every year.  They try a few grows, fail miserably and then after a few months or one bad trip, go back to sniffing glue, never to be seen again.

We have a basic pf tek that's idiot proof enough for noobs to get fucked up with their friends.

Mycologists on the other hand grow for the love of growing.  They want to experiment with various species, substrates, and fruiting environments. They'll move on to isolate strains, attempt hybridization, and in general treat cultivation as an artform, rather than a chore that must be performed as a means to an end.  They'll work twice as hard for a ten percent gain, just for the love of perfection.  These are the ones who will isolate strains, not the dumb fucks who treat mushrooms as a drug, or even worse, a pathogen, as if mushrooms cause disease.

Mine kind of squeeze shut after about 20 minutes and look pretty normal. You can barley see the hole when they are out.

freelance?

Oh wow. Did he rip them when he stretched them? I let mine slowly adjust to larger gauges at a time. If you cut them or rip them they do have a harder time growing closed at all.

I'm pretty sure he did actually, he didn't mind the pain so he went from like a 16-8 and then from that to a 2 and then 0 to 00. That's probably why then lol.

My advice would be to just keep looking, you will find something eventually. You should have seen all of the applications I filled out back when my ears were at 2 1/4 inches
But unfortunately I can't say that it worked out, I simply went into work for myself and eventually took everything out.
