No. Not a single one comes even close. Western culture is ripping into worldwide specied diversity like an extinction level event. 1/4 of all SPECIES in ANY biotope ANYWHERE on earth his been driven extinct by western culture. And does it make the privileged few happy? hell no it floods them with fears and worries and desires that can never be fulfilled - it feeds on human anguish on all levels and exploits living resources void of conscience.


This has nothing to do with "white people". People are people, werever you go. White people is where the cancer took hold and spread through their wooden ships. People all over the world are ripping each other to shreds with Western Culture, regardless of race. Western culture is no longer a white thing - the whole human species is infested.



This.  While I question the validity of that 1/4 of all species claim, it is undeniable that western culture is the most consumptive human culture to ever exist.  We are consuming resources at an entirely unsustainable rate.

I like having my computer, internet, xbox360, car, central heating, etc etc etc and wouldn't want to give those things up, but it can't last.  One thing a lot of the native cultures had on us is that they lived sustainably.  This is something western culture is JUST NOW starting to get an understanding of, and some are working towards this very necessary goal.

Eh, lots of cultures are greedy, Westerners just had a very prime location.  Anybody interested in the subject, I'd recommend you the book "Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies"

Right, but it's completely based in history.  The only reason western culture is as dominant as it is is because of the natural resources we've had available to us throughout history.

We are not standing by helpless, many nations give give and give to africa.  There is no reason they cant grow food and support themselves.  Whitey isnt destroying their crops.  You are the one living in a dream, a dream where every victim is innocent and every culture, except western, is also an innocent victim.

Western Civilization is stupid because of the bullshit trend setting ideas placed all around us. America is full of gun-toting assholes, gangster wannabees, conceited sluts from the age of 12, and horrible educational systems(in my opinion). Here here my friend.  That's exactly what we did here in Australia, come in, kill all the natives and fuck the place up.  I too feel somewhat ashamed of being Australian.  Most of our decedents are criminals who have little to no morals...  But we have nice beaches though :thumbup:

I completely agree that the Western economic bailouts and financial figures being thrown around are outrageous, and that the global community could use fractions of those costs to handle global poverty disease and so on.

However, I disagree that this is somehow a symptom of new, especially evil, western culture.

All of human history, no matter who is in power, is about self-preservation, conquest, and the survival of the fittest.

Human Rights as an ideal is a new fucking idea, one that has gained ground primarily because of Western Culture.
These self-reflexive ideas are a luxury.

Chinese Dynasties, The Mongols, all African dynasties/tribal history... countless non-western historical leaders have subjugated others for power, land, resources, and the ability to execute their vision of how life should be lived and primarily for the benefit of their culture.

And in contrast to other threads, anytime someone mentions communism or socialism, everyone is up in arms cracking jokes about red's and how everything is bullshit and how capitalism is great.

It genuinely pains me to see the photos of starving children and the failure of the world to unite against those causes, but I am wary of my own hypocrisy.

It is easy to post photos/read articles/throw around armchair ideologies, but if you still thrive in the western culture, eat it's food, and generally have enough money and resources to post here and claim a moral superiority, I don't think that's fair.

If you aren't barely surviving because you've sent so much your income to feed African families and support charity, how do you expect the entire global infrastructure to do the same?

I'm not a supporter of the status-quo of the globe, but I feel blessed to have technology and the freedom to have these intellectual discussions.

I think any civilization in human history, given the current technology and resources, would be consuming and using at the same rate, if not worse.
It could be much worse, for everyone.

Honestly, I could care less. Pictures are pictures. They are meant to move us. And yes, I am moved. I don't feel good looking at starving kids.

But, really, we need to worry about ourselves. The U.S. should stop trying to stick its nose in every fucking world affair possible. We need to figure our shit out before we attempt to figure other shit out. Africa is Africa. If they can't fend for themselves, then they shall perish. That is the Law of Nature. We care. You can't say we don't. But we care more about ourselves. And rightfully we shall. Let's solve our own problems before we end up with theirs.

Sorry Wiccan, but you can't just make the world not hungry any more.  Significant parts of africa would still be controlled by rebels and militants, who would continue to rape, murder, and pillage all rival tribes and ethnicities. 

I listened to a speaker at georgetown last summer who was an african that had been working inside and outside of africa with both our government and many of theirs, and the one thing he emphasized most when we kept asking what the US could/should do to help was....

"There is nothing the outside world can do to fix africa, our reforms must come from within"
