i think i may have cross breed two strains

ello shroomery, long time browser, first time poster.

anyway, ive bin perpetually growing mushrooms for about 6 months now,
ecuadoran and alacabenzi, both wonderfully.

however about a month and a half ago i forgot to label my prints and mixed up the two species together and have bin getting some werid mix of the two strains, alacabenzi has a light cap and ecudoran has really werid thin stems so i know they're a mix of the two,
so i was wondering, did i actually cross breed the two or am i seeing shit?

Seeing shit, it is not possible to cross strain like that. Shrooms are not like pot.

yea very very unlikely you crossed breed two strains.  How are your innoculations?  MS, LC, agar?

It is very hard you need to get a single spore to germinate then another single spore and cross them that is simply how to do it but its way more complex than that

I don't think you can but there might be some very technical way to do it. I think that you have to change it's charertiistics slowly over time or something. Look up Penis Envy, I believe that is like the only one that exists. I believe use 13shrooms has a good PE article in his sig. But do not believe everything I just typed I am not positive on this. PE looks differnt then all the other cubes.

What I said before isn't even the answer its the only viable solution that i have found.  I don't even know if anyone has had any luck with it.  What i read is that get a monoculture and inoculate a jar with it when its about70% colonized inject with an LC of your race that you want to cross

i usually use MS but since (i forgot to mention this) what i believe to be a hybrid strain doesnt drop any spores i have to use LC to keep the strain going.

also, the werid mix only grew outa one of my casings, the rest were normal. i transfered a small portion to agar which im now using in my LC syringe.

Just because a shroom doesnt produce spores doesnt mean its a cross i have come upon quite a few races that don't produce spores for a time.  I have had lipa yai, and EQ both do this to me

okay, is it possible to get like a werid continuous mutation from a isolation? i really wish i had a camera.

cause the mushrooms coming from this isolation are fucked, some are thin stemmed with no veil and really light, big cap causing it to fall over and some are really fat with a tiny little cap.

and all my other cakes/casings are presenting normal activity.

well if you are using an iso the shrooms growing from it will exhibit the same growth

i suppose that makes sense,
i was always under the impression that a mutant was only a one time thing, like one maybe two mushrooms in a bunch.
Not a continuous breed of mutants.

You can cross strains of the same species by mixing spores in an LC or on agar. They do it naturally without snake venom or acids that damage the cell wall. Its like mating a black human with a white human (cross strain).  Now if you want to cross say a Pan Cyan with a cube, then you would need snakevenom or an acid on the spores. Its because they are two different species.
