This topic comes up a lot and i rarely join the discussion, but I really advocate for cleaning before drying.  As soon as I pick/harvest any mushrooms I cut the base of the stipe off; I use a jumbo size X-acto knife with a scalpel style blade usually (X-acto makes various styles of blades for their different sized handles, Awesome).  Large specimens take a couple cuts and come out with a pointed stipe, like a tree cut down with an axe.  Yeah, sweet.

I think a lot of folks here think that that method wastes a little edible material and that's true, however, if you're spending more than 45 minutes cleaning you're shrooms than step-up and waste a few grams to make the harvesting/"cleaning" go quicker.  You're a cultivator now, it's okay.  This always reminds me of something this guy said here before:

It all depends what you are going for. If you have that many shrooms, cutting off the bottoms could ad up to a decent amount of weight. If that matters to you.

If you want to keep the whole thing, dry first, then clean.

well, you could use some of that "waste" material to make isolates for new spawn.

Me too. I can't quite work out what's going on with the guy in the middle - Looks like there is a vulture's head coming out of the guy's neck.. and then some freaky face on the top of his head. Whatever the case, twisted pic this one.

fan dry for 12-16 hrs.  then take a tooth brush to brush sub and or verm off of the bottom. then i put them in desiccant chamber.

Pinch the ends of the fresh fruits,  this will clean 90% of it.  Then dry them and the rest will come off easy.
