Why are my mushies growing downwards?

Out of nowhere my second mushroom has appeared. However, both of these are growing downwards. They're really small still, about 1/8 inch, but if I don't tilit them up soon they're going to grow right down in between my wire mesh on the bottom of the terranium. Both mushrooms are on a different cakes.

you have perlite in the bottom? I have heard it can reflect the light making them grow down....I've had some shrooms grow sideways but never down...not on cakes anyways

No perlite. I do have an overhead lamp shining down on through my terranium window at an angle. None of the cakes are in direct light (does it even matter?). I'll monitor over the next few days.....dang....another reason I should buy a digicam.
The only difference between my setup and "The Magic" guide, basically PFTek, is that I didn't scrape all the vermiculte off the bottom of the cakes. I understood this as just helping to keep the terranium clean though, and I didn't want to dig into the cakes too much to get all of it off.

No perlite? whats keeping humidity up? Just let it grow downward then if there isnt any perlite. It doesnt matter which way its growing, as long as it grows.

I'm using a fish tank bubber and hand spraying it 3x a day. It's a pain in the butt, but it does help me appreciate the mushrooms more.
