Love and Christmas

You must have unconditional love for yourself and others. You have to love your shortcomings too, for example your inherent greediness. Christmas is the time of the year, when you can embrace your materialism, your greed for material things, and not feel shame because of it. So Christmas really is a celebration of love. This is the time when you can love in yourself the thing you probably hate most, your dependence on material riches...

Why should you love anything? No one has to live a good life...

Thank you for your enlightened view point. I will remove my need for material things altogether and go sit in a cave aware of myself and everything that is one.

Tripping shows you what meditations all about, the further into imagination land you go the more fear you will eventually experience, the more you meditate & focus on reality the more bliss you experience, they both teach you to not attach to what you see no matter how tasty

You can go much higher just meditating then meditating while tripping though, the stability of a sober mind meditating is incomparable to any mind altering substance

If trip & dont meditate or deeply contemplate reality you are an idiot

The first time i tripped i didn't consciously meditate, but i was a 16 year old idiot!

Good point. In christian view 'God' materialized. So why not celebrate materialization in general, as any kind of desired materialization stands for some peoples 'wishes' and 'hopes' :grin:
Seriously, I think silly humans made this consumers festival out of the once 'silent' and 'hidden' gift, that was given in a situation of poverty, distress and persecution.

Well, what if Christmas really is about materialization, or the healing of the material world. Even before Christians, this was the celebration of the winter solstice, the time of the year when the light and life is the most needed in the world. At those times God, or the Sun, appeared as matter, as light, as life for the people. Later, Jesus too appeared this time according to Christian beliefs.

It's the celebration of the material, whether Christian, or pagan, or "modern atheist consumer culture" religion...

It is hidden and silent... At least in my country at Christmas Eve the shops are closed, etc. Of course, before Christmas, it is a consumers festival, but that is before Christmas. For ancient people, it wasn't that different I think. It was a silent celebration, but the silence didn't started until Christmas Eve...

As far as I see, those appearances, like the sun or Jebuz are only signs, that point towards transcendence of the material toward the spiritual (or vice versa), where, more often, material domination is a distraction toward that goal.
Of course, somehow these 'signs' have to 'appear' :smile:
But one doesn't celebrates the sign, one looks towards what it hints for. Maybe only people can make a celebration of its existence and thereby forget for what it stands for.
