i want to paint and create art.  i can't though.  I am not necessarily unmotivated, but i got nothing.

thats an unfortunate position. To say that you can't make art is absurd and first off you must rid that mind set. Your life is art, anything you got in your head right now is art. What a person like you needs, is practice. Buy some sketchbooks and I must say, to be a true artist, its not a side job, its a lifestyle. But first you have to find your purpose, your goal through art. I can't tell you that, you must find out yourself. This may require more psychedelic plants or just practicing everyday trying to create better ways and concepts to portray what you see in your head. Its all about the vision, and how to represent it on a material object in 3 dimensional space.

Really, just practice and you will eventually figure out how your art will look, feel, and present itself. Anything worth doing, is going to take practice.

Sounds like you don't really want to then... even if you say it's not a motivation problem. Making art is hard, time consuming work... expect to try and fail quite a bit before you succeed in making something really meaningful. But until then you should really practice and try to expand your skills. As you do it more you'll gain more direction and realize what your trying to do. But you need to start by doing something...

A lot of people envision themselves just one day creating a masterpiece on the whim their first try or something, but the majority of the time thats not how it works. It takes a lot of trying, experimenting, and learning...

Fuck stressing about making something meaningful, just make something, treat it like your memoirs.

I'm also really interested in drawing/painting. I bought sketchbook and draw whatever come on my mind. I just don't have the skill right now to draw what I see but it will build itself the more I will draw.
