I plan on making a glove box tonight or tomorrow.  I have a big plastic thing that down comforters come in and some rubber gloves.  I'm going to burn some holes in the side, fit the gloves in and the seal it up.  Spray the inside with lysol/wipe it down with rubbing alcohol.

I was thinking about the tyvek, but I'm comfortable with polyfil at the moment.  Perhaps next time, I will use tyvek.

Tyvek is so much easier... IMHO of course.

Don't worry, I have been.  This is the start of year two (just two more to go after this!) so I know what it takes.  It's good to have hobbies though, and as I quit drinking, I need a little something to occupy the time.  Mushrooms and I have always gotten along well, so I thought I'd take up the old hobby and see what comes of it.

On that note, I am going to go study (I need to memorize the new edition of the APA manual, study for candidacy exams, and get ready for my thesis proposal meeting on Tuesday).  Good times.

Thanks for the suggestions and help.  I'll throw some more pics up tomorrow when the glove box is done, jars are PCd and I'm getting ready to inoculate.

No, you still have a tinfoil lid.  I just finally figured out it was pointless after dong a few rounds.  In the lab we never use anything more than tinfoil caps on our flasks.  There's just no point, contams fall down any lid will prevent this.

A lot of people just can't seem to wrap their mind around the fact that a lot of what people do is a complete waste of time.

Another tip BTW.  Rye works a LOT better than WBS.  It's a lot less contamination prone.  WBS contams easier than anything else I've tried.

Oh.
You only need like 1/4 cc per jar (sometimes not even), don't just gush it in there. Shake those syringes well too.

Don't want to waste them. Put them in the fridge when not in use, the viability factor will remain higher for a longer period of time.

Oh, good to know.  So I should be able to do all 7 quart jars with 1 syringe?  Any thought on the strains?  Treasure Coast, Hualta, Costa Rica and PES Hawaiian?

I have been having mad conatim problems and thought that it was due to my new place but at the same time could be the fact that I started using tyvek without the foil before tyvek I just used foil. FF you may have just convinced me to say screw the tyvek and go back to straight foil.  I never knew about the contaim difference of rye vs WBS I use WBS cause of the cost and access.  I may go back to using rye again.

Those Hawaiians are a nice strain, and ironically just a marketing ploy. Psilocybe cubensis doesn't grow in Hawaii!!

However, a lot of people here love them, huge caps and very good visuals. Some say a cube is a cube, I disagree.

Yes all 7 quarts with a syringe easily.

Shoot at two opposing sides of each jar, 1/4 cc on each side. :grin:

Then throw them bitches in the fridge. Don't forget to flame sterilize the needles and wipe with alcohol in between jars.

True, he could make mycelium water and/or an lc with just 1/8 of a cc into a 1/2 pint.

And the amount of time you gain by doing LC after the LC has grown vs MS growth you cut your future grows down by days at the minimum to weeks.

I read about the Hawaiian scam in the strains thread.  Marketing is the scourge of modern life, but c'est la vie.

Making LC is on my to-do list.  First I want to make sure I can grow successfully, then I still step up my game.  This is just a test run.  Also, I pretty much just want these to give to friends/self.  I have no interest in selling these and the potential shit you can get yourself into with that.  Just personal use and close trusted friends.  While more is always better, I don't know if I need to go the whole LC route.  A few casings here and there should last me a long time.

This is true yet an LC in the fridge will last awhile save time and when you want to do the odd jar just slam it with an LC and never buy a syringe again.

Yeah but an LC in the fridge can probably last you a few years. :grin:

Plus LC begins colonizing immediately, no germination required.

Just use
96% water
4% honey

PC for 20 minutes, good to go! Oh and no holes in the lids of the LC's!
