Does flax seed really help a lot in your opinion Scat? I found it this week at the health food store, but it is like $5/lb.

I have not used it...I make sure I get WBS with 5% sunflower seeds, which are for the same purpose. I also havnt done trial runs to show, see, or prove that these oils help...I just take agars word that adding these are better then not. There aint no one on this forum (if anywhere) that understands what mushrooms like to eat as well as agar I dont think.
I believe larger bags can be found cheaper at walmart...it is expensive, but not that bad...I believe around 20 dollars for a 50 lb bag. Any heavy oil seed, including sesame will work according to him. Flax, rape, canola, whatever. Check feed stores and anywhere you might find WBS.

Why worries about WBS? Parakeet seed is mostly millet, WBS has more variation in it. Same "worries".... I use rye now, just because it seems to colonize faster here. Not because WBS has more "worries",
