What is the average sentence for those found
guilty of serving alcohol to minors in California?

The penalty for serving minors in California eh?

well let me just dig into my ass here and see if I can pull it out.............

hmmm, not there.... just the statutes prohibiting the raising of Emu's w/o a license in Arkansas,
FRA regulations governing train/road grade crossing right of ways
and penalties for fishing w/ dynamite in Minnesota.

looks like you'll have to try google.

If it weren't for the bloody corpses, I wouldn't have any corpses at all.

There are two ways to get to the top of an oak tree: start climbing or sit on an acorn.

Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?

It's usually just a heavy fine and/or community service for first offenders.  I don't know where to find "average sentences" but I could find MAX sentences if you wanted me to.

Tomass, I don't have a daughter, humorous nonetheless.

My cousins facing the charge, he has a warrent out for him, and he's thinking about turning himself in to clear his name.

I just wanted to relay the info.

Appreciate the link Ferris.

A misdemeanor in California is up to a year in jail (not likely) and 2000 dollars in fines.

Quote:
    *  Probation -
          o With Jail Time - In some cases jail time may be served under House Arrest or weekends in a private jail
          o Without Jail Time – For less severe offenses, probation may be given without any jail time
    * Community Service
    * CalTrans (physical labor)
    * Counseling or supervised anger management classes
    * Restitution - The court may order financial compensation to the victim by the defendant
    * Fines - Fines vary from $200 to $2 000 in court-ordered fines
    * Stay-Away Orders – The court may order the defendant to have no contact with certain persons and locations

He did say it was a misdemeanor he's charged with.
His charge is in San Francisco, so he probably won't do much time,
although Bryant St. Jail sucks midget balls.

His notice of a warrent says he owes $3000 though.

Now is California like NY, where if you sit the time,
you escape the fine with a time served verdict?

3000 could be the bail amount.  Alternatively, it could be fines AND penalties (I thought the max was 2000 for both, but I could be wrong, or my info outdated).

No, you're right, I just got off the phone with him.
He has 2 warrents, one for open container, the other
for serving alcohol to a minor. The total between the
two is $3000.

Ok ya, that makes more sense.

In my secondhand knowledge of California courts, tell your friend to show up looking nice and act polite and apologetic (not douchey), and he'll get his fines cut in half for sure.

most likely the 'fines' are what his bond total will be on both warrants,
it's good that he's not in lockup because it allows him to make bond
before going in, it's so much easier that way
