Lactarius hygrophoroides var. rugata??
    #10971532 -

Habitat:
Grown in grass near an older tree stump

Gills:
Yellow, stained brown with latex, spore print consisted of brownish yellow drops of the white latex. Gills were attached and yellow

Stem:
Thick, not hollow, mushroom stood about 1.75" high

Cap:
2" at widest, funnel-shaped, and orange.

Spore print color:
Spore print consisted of yellowish brownish spots where latex dropped

Bruising:
Slight brown bruising

Other information:
Latex tasted mild but mushroomy, after taking the mushroom home it started smelling old and bad.

I am asking here because I also posted it on Mushroom Observer trying to figure out which species of Lactarius this mushroom is (this was my first Lactarius find), and one user voted that it was likely Lactarius volemus, while others said that it seemed more likely Lactarius hygrophoroides var. rugata. This is difficult because there are apparently some (albeit few) reports of finding L. hygrophoroides var. rugata in the southern US (this was found in north-central Florida, and the reports place it in Texas and Florida), even though the variety is supposedly only European.

Here is the link to the Mushroom Observer post, along with pictures:

EDIT: The more I look at information, the more convinced I am that it is L. volemus (due to the fishy odor and brown staining latex). Any opinions?
