Okay, today I really found the MOTHERLOAD!
Here are the biggest mushrooms I have ever found in my lifetime. I wish I had a scale BIG enough!

Here is today's harvest.

I found these baby pines, I am going to inoculate them. I'm on a mission to cultivate these beauties.

Tis the season.

It seems as though they like fruiting in yards or similar areas... I've been seeing alot of them a little firther up the coast,, southern New England.... Nothing compared to the fruits you have found Effed,, mine are punny in comparison...

What is the difference in the "var. formosa" and "var. flavivolvata"...they look strickingly simialr and my "Texas Mushrooms" book says that the "var. Flavivolvata" is poisonous...I take it the "var. formosa" is edible/active?

That is just another variation of the blood red Fly Agaric.
Read here: http://www.erowid.org/plants/amanitas/amanitas_muscaria_flavivolvata.shtml
Here too. http://www.erowid.org/plants/amanitas/amanitas.shtml
Also just a note, all hallucinogenic mushrooms are considered "poisonous".
