to anyone who has ever been a nomad

So i am in a position right now where i am losing my apartment due to the job market being absolute shit where i live  (seriously, i put in 10 apps a day and nobody will hire me).  I am in the process of trading my mr2 for a van.

Im honestly thinking of living in my van with my mate, traveling around seeing the usa.  Its something i've always wanted to do,  but since i had a job and an apartment and stuff it was never an option.  Im thinking if i dont do it now i might not get another chance.

Really i dont think it would be too hard, as i have 12 months of food stamps that work anywhere in the USA, so food wont be a problem, just gas to drive around, which i could get rather easily. if all else fails i could play my gutiar with my case open. im quite talented at guitar :smile:

Anyway, has anybody here ever done it?  anybody have any thoughts/experiences/advice they would like to tell?

Just know the laws of the states you're traveling through and try not to get your vehicle impounded for any reason.

depending on where you are, i reccomend you come across the border and travel canada.. maybe go to british columbia and pick up some nice herb.. i think it would be a fantastic experience to travel canada at this time, summers going to slowly turn into fall and in canada, you never want to miss that.

Thats a pretty good idea.  ill think about it :smile:  i need to get my first passport ever before i can do that though lol.  man Canada would be beautiful in the fall

I spent a full year traveling the US and Canada in a pickup truck when I was in my twenties. It was one of the best years of my life to date...

Don't travel the interstates! Take the state highways, the back roads. I followed the weather, took the northern route during spring and summer and the southern routes during the cold seasons.

Keep a journal! This is a must! And collect postcards! At the time, there weren't digital cameras, so I used those disposable ones, and took photos of myself at tons of landmarks (Grand Canyon, Mt Rushmore, etc) as well as photos of myself with folks I met along the way. I treasure that album like nothing else.

People love travelers, they love to hear tales of life on the road. I traded stories of my travel for food, for gas, for herb. I'm a chick, and I never, ever, once felt threatened or worried for my safety. Humans are an amazing species, and when you allow yourself to wallow in humanity, you experience moments as deep and profound as any mushroom trip.

Good luck! If I had traveled during the time of the internet (yeah, I'm old!), I would have blogged my experiences.

Learn to surf and skateboard! Trust me, I cannot imagine traveling without being able to surf! God, that is the bloody point of traveling!

Make a few DMT extractions for money. Sell it to crack heads and meth heads. Tell them it is so harsh because it is 100% pure, and that they add salt to it to decrease the harshness... Also, give it to the meth head to snort. Snorting DMT is the most powerful way to take it, as it lasts MUCH longer than smoking.

Snorting DMT doesn't do shit.  We were at a psy party in june and my friend was making lines of k, fucked up and made fat lines of spice.

It was shit to snort with a burn and an imediate "hey fuck that's not K"  In short but it failed to deliver any aspects sub break through or total break trough experience.

I was with a firend who snorted 2 lines of DMT, He started tearing up pretty damn bad fromt he burn and then he proceded to lay on the floor for like 15 minutes. he later told us he could see beneath the floor into everything else going on in the building.

I'd say do it. It's something that scares most people, but being a nomad is as close as you can get to "freedom" in this modern world.

After backpacking Eu I'd give anything to live that way for the rest of my life.

Why not backpack for your entire life, then?  One woman did it for the last 28 years of her life (only without the backpack).  Just carry nothing and accept the food, shelter, etc. that is offered.

Yeah I heard about that. I don't know how she did it, even with couchsurfing and staying random people's houses it's hard to always have somewhere to stay.

Maybe one day I'll do a "shroomery tour" and make my way around the world staying with shroomerites......damn that would be a drug filled trip :lol:

littlebirdie is on the ball. Do it - the hardest part is leaving. I've travelled a bunch, but always by hitch hiking or bicycle. Love it, there is nothing better. When im travelling solo is about the only time i feel totally clear and in the moment and without anxiety.

As long as you have some residual income to pay for insurance/gas/maintanence on your vehicle, your all good. You will see so much, and learn so much. Definately follow the state roads, and check out wilderness areas.

BC is great, i highly recommend you comming here, and going to the Okanagan and kootenays.

obama :smile:  some new thing he pushed through office made me eligible.  i got a random letter in the mail saying im now approved for 12 months instead of the 3 months i qualified for 2 months ago.

As much as i hate the guy, i love him too.  most people dont notice the kind of things he does for people because theyre not in my position, and not on the programs that he is improving or boosting. but to someone in my place, he seems like a god at times :holyshit:
