Whatever you want to call it, uprising or peasant revolt or whatever, there is a historical precedent for it happening.

yeah and historically, it happened  because the peasants didnt have the opportunity to better their lives. there are plenty of opportunities in the states.

Reasonable argument, though a lot of "peasant" type work is on the way to drying up permanently thanks to automation.

It kind of depends on where you are in the country as far as if your choices keep you poor or not. Certain states charge twice as much for basic things like power. For example, in Georgia as a Registered Nurse I still only made $17 an hour, CNA's made 7.75 an hour LPN's made 12.50...the low wages and high cost of living make it pretty impossible to get out of poverty even with going to college...you still end up a paycheck to paycheck family. If you want a better degree you will be in debt for the rest of your life living in a place like that.

Then in CO I can get a entry level job at 15 bucks and hour with benefits and a shift dif, the power bill is half the price and the rent is close to the same. Here I can save 500+ a month without really even trying. Where you live in the states makes a world of difference.

My main problem was that I didn't have job experience. I was sick, physically and mentally, through much of my teen years and my early 20s.

I've come to realize a big reason I've beenn so sickly is because I was raised on a bad diet. Meat, cheese, bread. That's all we ate, and it was often TV dinners. I don't blame my parents, they didn't really understand. They suffer from the effects of a lifetime of bad diet too. So in my late teens my body went crazy trying to get the nutrients I needed. I ate more pizza, more cheeseburgers, because my brain was telling me I was starving. Which I was, just not for calories. Added to which my gallbladder and the rest of my digestive system started malfunctioning, food often went right through me, I suppose immediately rejecting what it didn't need while trying hard to get what it did. I saw tons of doctors. None had any idea what was wrong with me. They gave me fiber supplements to try to regulate my bowels... It also being something I didn't need, at least not without the nutrients to process it correctly, I'd just throw it up. They gave me other drugs, antispasmodics and imodium type drugs, that also made me sicker. Depressed and suicidal as I was at that point I just sank farther and father into drug use.

I tried to find work near and after graduating. No one would hire me. I suppose it was in large part because I had the misfortune of starting my work life at the height of the recession. I was a victim of circumstances. I could have done more, I just didn't have any idea how. It wasn't till my suicide attempt and being committed that I had the resources I needed to help myself. Even that was very limited though. It wasn't till my parents let me back home that I was able to finally begin to recover and had a safe stable ground to start to rebuild myself and my life.

I didn't want to be a burden on the system so much that a few months before my suicide attempt I cut off my food stamps. Even though I was malnourished and rapidly loosing weight from my drug use, illness, and working odd labor jobs trying to keep the home I had. I didn't want to be a burden to the people I was with so much I tried to kill myself.

But ya know, after nearly dying I realized it is the government's job to help people like me get on their feet. And I did. I figured out how. But I wouldn't have been able to do it with help. Without the healthcare the government provided me during my recovery or all the aid my parents gave me in getting into college and jabbing my foot in the door of the work world. I have the middle class job I do now thanks to a dozen certifications, some college, a little bit of prior work experience that did push me to my limit, and my parents' networking.

I got a temp job at the company through my mother, I was the only one they hired permanently. I did the work, I proved myself, but I'd not have ever been able to if I wasn't first given the opportunity.

Overweight and starving to death.
Cheap food is often high calorie food. Empty calories often enough. Overweight does not equate to well food. In our convoluted post industrial society it can often mean the opposite.

its a myth that poor people in the USA are forced to buy junk food because its all they can afford. in fact, junk food isnt even the cheapest option and poor people actually dont eat fast food more often than people in other economic groups.

Well it's actually a combination of things. It is MEALS that are cheap. And many consumers in America, especially lower class impoverished folk, view a meal as consisting of meat and bread. You can buy sacks of apples and bundles of broccoli but those aren't meals. You can instead have 10 meals at McDonald's.

I think it's more ignorance of the country as a whole. Less than 50% of the entire country gets more than 2 servings of fruit or a variety of vegetables a day.

It hits poor people harder because the quality of their meat and bread is shittier.

There are starving kids now in america with welfare before that children literally died the USA was a third world country. But those damn poor people weren't sucking up welfare benefits. You know sometimes I wonder if the real conservative agenda is to let the poor starve to death or die of treatable disease all in the name of lower taxes. Conservatism is morally bankrupt.

Right on, I can't really blame anyone who is taking what they can from the government. I grew up extremely poor and government aid is a large part of what kept my family going through rough patches. When you're in a situation like that milking the government is really the only way to get back on your feet and for some that's a lot easier said than done. The problem is there are far too many people who are totally abusing the system and fucking over people who really need help in the process. It seems like every time they try to crack down on the abuse of welfare systems it only hurts the people who really need it. I noticed that a lot when I was young and my mom would be working and barely making shit but somehow always making just a little too much to get any real help from the government. She probably would've been 100% better off with no job and relying solely on government aid.

I agree on all accounts. A big reason why government agencies hurt good people and enable bad ones is, despite all the money they pour into these things, they're constantly cutting funding to the people, the employees, that keep those places running.
