Warren Haynes has got to be it my friends, the man is amazing. Anyone who seen him at bonnaroo last year knows what I mean, he was all over the place. Now this year at Bonnaroo he is playing solo and with the Allmans in one fest. Now see Bonnaroo NE WARREN TO PLAY 2 SHOWS WITH 2 BANDS IN 2 STATES IN ONE DAY Gov't Mule will be playing Bonnaroo NE @ Enterprise Park @ Calverton in Riverhead, NY. Following his afternoon performance with Gov't Mule, Warren will fly to Charlotte, NC to play that night with the Allman Brothers @ Verizon Amphitheater. Gotta love this man

phil anselmo jumps from all his different bands making CDs touring for months and months, making more CDs, touring more. hell, he's in like twelve bands. guy's a maniac. i dig the devotion he puts into heavy music. in it to win it.

i know i'll prolly get shit on for this, but seriously: Yngwie Malmsteen......every year he puts out the equivelent of a double album and tours relentlessly, everywhere. He composes, arranges and produces most of the stuff himself. Truthfully, his overly demanding work ethic actually works against him sometimes(imo), he's TOO friggen dedicated to his craft.... again imo, no one musician has put more out in the way of self involvement and devotion(a strong word, i know) and recieved less in the way of commercial acceptance/acclaim in North Amerika....but In Oz.... New zealand and most of Europe he's very well appreciated....his music is very largely diatonic in strucure(based on modes/scales or European origion) and i think that's a big part of the reason he's never really caught on over here(Canada/Amerika)

i might agree with warren haynes. gov't mule, phil and friends, the allman brothers, and numerous guest aperances with everybody and their brother. He gets around. Tours constantly and when he's not on tour he's in the studio. Something like this is really hard to say, but i would bet Mr. Haynes one of the harder working musicians.

Iced Earth had to go through some serious shit to get where they are. They are true hardcore musicians. Been through the depths of hell and lived to tell the tale. If you don't know their story check it out. I vote them hardest working musician.. John Shaffer.

Mike Patton is a pretty busy man. He's doing albums for 3 other bands, appeared plenty of times in guest vocals for other bands, and managed to tour a LOT. He came down to NZ with Fantomas, and was back in under a year with Tomahawk. I wouldn't say the hardest working musician, but I'm sure he doesn't sit back much.

According to Rolling Stone , Paul McCartney is the top paid.
But I think Phil is pretty fucking awesome.

Hendrix. Do you know how much shit that guy wrote in the short amount of time he was on this earth (and it was ALL of the highest quality)? I've heard the experience family has enough music from him to release a new album every year for the next 10 years (at least). Not only that but he was touring all the time. It's almost as if he knew his time was limited and he made the best of it...he truly was a god.

I'm going to avoid the obvious Moby joke.
But yes, Mr. James Brown has like some sort of longevity voodoo going on. I think his internals may have been replaced by a cybernetic skeleton and mobility system or something.

How about frank zappa? he appeared on over 70 albums in his career from 1966 to 1993. looking at www.allmusic.com, he had 7 albums out in 1981 alone. Ok there's quite a lot of live stuff, but he did tour relentlessly and still have time to produce other people's albums.. Surely zappa belongs at least in the top 5 busiest musicians of all time?

Only they aren't working anymore, not that it matters but I intended this discussion to be for working musicians, we'd be here for a long time discussing the busiest musicians of all time.

I would submit B.B. King for the hardest working musician tag. He has been doing about 250 shows a year for DECADES, due to health reasons he usually can't even stand during a show but plays sitting down the entire time, and the shows are still great.

Nirvana spent their younger days working their way round bars etc, really roughing it to be heard. They surely deserve a mention. This is IMO, I don't need anyone telling me that 'Nirvana are shit' etc.
