I think straight bongs hit a lot smoother than beaker ones.  But I love that sound a big beaker makes when it's bubbling.  And technically, you can fit more water into one.  So I guess that help 'filter' the smoke more.  Both are good though.  I have yet to hit a zong, I've heard those are really interesting.  I have hit a stemless though, that was cool.

I prefer beaker style. straight tubes are hard to get enough water in without getting it in your mouth when you carb.

The flask style bong will be more stable, when filled with water, than a straight tube. This will really come into effect for bongs greater than 2ft high.

Plus it just looks cooler and gives a larger chamber to fill with smoke.

STRAIGHT TUBE, they really shotgun the smoke down ya the best once you carb (wet or carb hole, doesn't matter), plus they look nicer (IMO).  But when it all comes down to it beakers and bubble bottoms are for bitches.
