First Time Salvia

50 mg of 20x Standardized

After two failed attempts prior using only 20 and 25 mg, I knew I needed to double the dosage. I went in with the intent to learn from the plant teacher.

After inhaling two hits, before the second hit was exhaled I already was feeling something. I felt as if I was entering "Salvia space", some other realm or domain, and my ego was just a temporary visitor.

Next I forgot who or what I was. I was looking about my room confused, I thought I was just another object in the room. At first I didn't even know I was looking at my room, it had such an alien feel to it. I felt like all I had was this one point of vision and my bed was moving closer to run me over and out of existence. Looking at my wall I felt the distinct presence of two "things" communing with me. They directed me to look at the bong and it was then that I remembered and realized I had smoked Salvia!

I felt like all we were, my egoless consciousness and the Salvia consciousness, were things that came out of the bong. I felt an immense feeling of shared consciousness, and the Salvia was a little disappointed that I had brought it to such a boring room, as opposed to a nice natural landscape such as woods or a stream.

I asked out loud, "What do you want from me?" Still in this confused state of being. Speaking out loud helped bring my ego back, because I then remembered I had a brother in the next room who may hear me babbling. 

Being a confused point of consciousness floating in my room was an uncomfortable feeling. My ego was operating on some suppressed level, so it way not complete ego death. I knew something wasn't right but I couldn't pinpoint it!

What have I learned from this trip?
- The next time do Salvia in a more natural environment
- How easily our egos can be swept away

I still feel a little groggy a half hour after the ordeal... The whole trip couldn't have lasted more than 3 minutes

Seems to be good stuff. At 25$/g, 1000mg/50mg, your getting at least 15 trips per gram.

Hmmm interesting... I don't know why I got this vibe from the experience then. When I did it this time it came on so quick I didn't even get the chance to close my eyes - I was just knocked into a stupor.

Thanks for the advise! Do you think the dosage on Erowid is too low for a breakthrough? They recommend 125-250 mg for a 5x extract, so I'm assuming that converts to 30-60 mg for the 20x extract. I think I might shoot for 75 to 100 mg for my next attempt.

And yea, my older brother had a horrible experience on Salvia. He did an extremely high dose in a party setting. I told him if you don't respect, it will turn on you!

i think the dosage you are proposing is too high.
breakthrough is not just about dosage, but too high dosage will definitely translate into discomfort and disorientation - a guarantee of amnesia, and embarrassment.

amnesia is not "breakthrough"

just attend to what is happening naturally, and keep letting go.
this is the way to enjoy salvia.

If you want to get the full Level 5 Salvia experience I would highly recommend by yourself in a dark room w/ eyes closed & ambient music playing (no beats/no lyrics). Or no sound at all. Just lay completely still and WATCH. Remember this, you dont have to do anything while on Salvia. It does all the work for you, it's the one that puts on the show. All you have to do is try to relax & pay attention.

It took me some time & practice to finally have a breakthrough. But when you have a breakthrough, believe me, you'll know.


Interesting. I've tried tripping on salvia several times, 20x being the highest strength, but have failed to actually trip each time. I can't imagine ever having a bad experience with it let alone tripping on it. I mean I've reallyyy ripped the shit out of it before and have only felt a little strange as far as tripping or visuals, with uncontrollable laughter each time.
Maybe ill try the alone thing in the dark... its always been around a lotta ppl and things so hey...
Oh and btw, whats the strongest FX anyone's gotten off just salvia leaf (no extract)? cuz it just gets me high... with the slight taste of the incredibley distinct, unmistakeable "salvia sensation."

Yeah, thats weird. I ripped 4 or 5 bowls of leaf to my face back to back earlier and I was just high... and its certainly legit, people trip off the same stuff i smoke, from a good vendor.

I've noticed that not very many people who mention smoking salvia make a point of how crucial it is to use a butane lighter or at least a to keep a regular lighter on the salvia the entire time your taking in a hit. Salvias active compounds only really get fully released at extended high temperatures, so gettig the bowl going and letting it burn off of it's own coals (like you would with maryjane) isn't going to give you as good of effect.

the lighter is not at all crucial.
the temperature is irrelevant, except that - in general higher temperature is more unhealthy for your breathing apparatus.

all you have to do is suck in strongly when you burn the leaf, all the good stuff will go into the smokestream and will not remain in the ash.

much of the salvinorin will be inhaled as tiny aerosol droplets (liquid not vapor) - sorry for the misunderstanding that the literature has fomented.

butane lighters are not essential equipment.

if you think it through, smoking salvia is best done with as little equipment and with as fast deep inhaling as possible.

(think droplets tiny little droplets in the smoke)

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate someone else coming forward with educated information on smoking salvia but as I stated before I've had much better results with high temperature or at least  by keeping the lighter on the salvia the entire duration of my inhale. When I first discovered salvia for myself 10 years ago and introduced my friends to it there was huge skepticism. My friends would try to smoke it like it was pot and weren't impressed. So after doing some research I told them to hold the lighter on it the entire time and breath in deep, and hold it in as long as they could comfortably. After doing it this way they discovered the real power of salvia. Again thank you for your input, just letting you know I found it more effective the way I learned to smoke it. Others might too.

first time I tried, the roof peeled back revealing a white "otherside" with quickly moving streaks of lights changing all colors.....I kind of thought if the end of the world were to happen I would accept it like this...if it did...
