Tex mex is best to me,real authentic mexican food is not the best. (IMHO):grin:
Although I do love southwestern food.There is a diff in all 3 if you know it.

okay i am on the first page and im not gonna read the whole thread, but hispanic is a very broad term, are we talking about mexicans, guatamalens and hondurans, latino immigrants?

i think you overspeculate on how many of these people are even immigrants, a lot where born here and just maintain the culture.

you focus on the negative, or perceived negative. it bugs me too that hispanics come here illegaly and some are in gangs or join gangs, but "keeping them down" also contributes to it, and hispanic culture brings a lot to this country, i think immigration should be easier so long as those who are willing to contribute, regardless of if they send money back (this doesnt hurt as much as you might think, and them using our money is often good) plus they buy stuff, contributing to sales tax dollars.

liborio and other mexican supermarkets are far superior in price, produce and meat. they dont have a lot of prepared shit or aisles of stouffers and stuff, but i wish they had one closer to here.

I know plenty of mexicans who are electricians and const. workers, they have fake social security cards and pay more taxes then most americans. ya thats right i said they pay taxes, cause many of them do, may be the minimal amount but thats more than me. People complain how they take all the jobs, but i have NEVER seen some black dudes mowing the front and back yards, or gardening. Hell one of my co-workers came over from mexico thru the famous railroad. He paid 14 grand for him and his g/f. And guess what, she got caught and sent back. He thought she was dead since they just pick them up and send em back. I knew another one who had 2 kids and a wife at home. they caught him and sent him back to mexico w/o letting him tell his family or go get them. Shit is fucked up. I have not seen 1 truly bad site effect from them moving here. you gonna go do shit work for 5 or 6 bucks an hour? Cause my ass wouldnt...

That's weird, because I've worked as an electrician here in little Mexico for years and only knew a few Mexicans to fill the job, mostly legals.  It's a notoriously white profession, if only because it can be a lot more technical and mathy than most other construction jobs.  Now, I do commercial, not residential, so maybe that explains the discrepancy.

PS: two of my top 5 best friends ever were mexican electricians.

Hispanics are hard workers but also know how to enjoy life. My dad has built his company to what it is today with the help of the contractors but I still think we need some type of identification program besides the green card.

Ya some of them dont even have a rotor splitter, its hilarious to watch them work with MC. but they still get it done. My friend Angel is mexican, granted he was born here in texas. He has taught me everything i know. We had to get a plug behind a fireplace that had gold paint everywhere so we couldnt cut a single hole. Got power from the attic and got it thru 2 floors and down the the little gap between the chimney since it was a true chimney.  He can be pretty good with those glow rods. Ya i always said if you can be an electrician you can do all the const traits, cause you have to do a little of everything sometimes.

Two of my four workers are Mexican right now and they both supply SSN and they both speak English, so I have no reason to snub them by checking further.  I'd be a fool not to hire from that worker pool.  So ya, we could implement a stricter regulation of the SSN system easily, but I'm not going to give myself a disadvantage as a contractor.

I haven't hired any of those yet because they tend to make costly mistakes.  Let them stick to working with the big time unions, where they can be legacy workers in cushy positions where they push back deadlines and make more money for their contractors.

I was able to find common ground when I had to live with it, but that's the survivalist in me.

Sure, Mexicans will work for less money than most Americans.  However, most of the world will work for less money than Mexicans.  You could find plenty of people around the world who would be willing to work for food and shelter, plus $2 a day to send back home, which would double what their family currently makes.  You would see tons of black people mowing lawns if they were illegals from some shithole in Africa.  The problem is they might as well fly to the moon as try and come up with $14k to get over here.  So why the preference for Mexicans?  If were going to get cheap labor then lets at least get a good deal out of it.
