I had some good advice in my post, There was no reason to edit all out.

It doesn't matter anyway. It's all luck of the draw. You may or may not suffer the oppresion of your choices. We're all slaves and property of the united states anyway. Only the slaves that abide the laws are given perks like a false sense of freedom.

Also, having kids has almost nothing to do with having any knowledge on the subject, and I dislike people that believe stuff like that, especially considering how many parents there are out there that have no clue about what healthy parenting is.

That's her point...this thread was never supposed to be about healthy choices. It was supposed to be about the legal ramifications of divulging information to my doctor, and what repercussions would be likely if I did.

I think that having children, and having been through the medical system, would lend itself perfectly to the kind of discussion this was supposed to be. It was just that kind of knowledge that gldfshfn posted that I was looking for.

What I Was saying, is Deny, Deny, Deny.....

If you know they will detect drugs in the blood test, tell them up front that you were at a party and use the second hand smoke excuse, or the pot laced browney excuse.

Also, There used to be this clause called "client/patient confidentiality". But, seeing how america is becoming the new Acient Egypt, I cannot ask you to rely on this alone.

The baby is very resiliant in the first weeks of the first trimester. Boozing and drugging is not likely to hinder development. Stress has more effect on a fetus in this stage than drugs or alcohol.

Also, not all drugs can pass through the blood to the fetus. Read up on which drugs can or can't.

If she still want's to smoke mj while she's prego, just know that I've known lots of mothers who smoked both mj and cigs while pregnant with no ill side effects.

That's not to say that there are none, however, I did know a pregnant mother who refused to pump her own gas because she felt the gasoline fumes were harmful to her baby....

I also knew a mother who refused to eat any foods that she did not prepare herself while she was pregnant, because of fear of harming her baby.

I knew of a mother who refused to work in her second trimester because she feared the stress from her job would cause her to have another miscarriage...

You see where this is leading...

Yes, I understand your question.. My advice, is to call a few obgyn's anonymously and tell them your situation... Tell them that you guys just got back from a trip to amsterdam and you smoked out the whole time you were there and have crazy sex, and realized you were prego when you got back home and ask if you will go to jail...

or simply ask what you want... Get at least 3 opinions, then go from there.

Isn't it easier to just not take a chance with a child's development because the mother prefers to get high? In this way you know it will have a better chance of turning out healthy. That is just common sense. This whole thread is about trying to make a case for someone still being able to pursue their recreational choices while pregnant. That is pretty frivolous in the light of what is at stake.

My mother smoked while pregnant and I show strong very strong symptoms of Aspergers Disorder which is a type of autism. This caused me no end of trouble early in life.

Just wait until the baby is born.....  If she needs pot to get through the pregnancy, what will she need to raise the child??? I don't think anyone in their right mind is going to wish you well on this.  Just like no one is going to wish you well on drinking or smoking while pregnant.  It just doesn't make sense.

PS- I am the mother of three smart, healthy and independent, grown children.

The US constitution has nothing to do with what the moderators and administrators decide put up with on an internet message board. The internet is not American, BTW.

I don't have any kids myself, but the 90% of my peer group who do tell me that as soon as you discover you're pregnant, your needs cease to matter.  You are now completely responsible for this itty bitty, helpless, human being in a giant world full of good and bad.

It was never about her preferring to "get high". She just wants something to get over the morning sickness. Who am I to refuse her that? I never said she would be getting high every day all day - in fact I said quite the opposite!

Anyway, we've both decide to give up herb for the remainder of the pregnancy.

Get over yourself, the civil rights comment wasnt directed towards you, it was directed towards the fact that the state can take a parents child away from them if they deem it necessary.

Just curious.. I find it interesting that, in spite of society suggesting that children should only happen when you are married, you and your girlfriend have not tied the knot but have chosen to get pregnant.  What gives?  Do you not believe in marriage?

What gives?  Do you not believe in marriage?

We do, and plan on getting married down the road. Neither of us is much of a money saver, and we don't relish the cost involved in getting married. We have taken a look at our financial situation and decided that while we couldn't afford a marriage right now, we can afford to have a child!

Either we get married now, go into debt because of it, and not have any money for the kid for at least a few years...or we have the kid now and worry about the marriage later!
