Girlfriend = Pregnant

I feel so lost right now; i don't know which leg to stand up on, which direction to head or which map to use. There is so much going through my head right now its hard to comprehend. I don't know how i should feel, what to think nor who to tell. This isn't something i can hide inside, i need some kind of closure. I guess just typing it down helps put things into some kind of perspective, weather it means anything to you or not.

My girlfriend is 18 (only just) as am I. We both still live at home and have been seeing each other for 7 months now. I would say our relationship is pretty strong as we hardly part and both love each other.

Last night she took the test and i can honestly say it was the worse night of my/our life, i felt like another teenage statistic, one of those stupid couples in the sex-ed videos. You just don't think its going to happen to you until your the one in the shit.

My girlfriend took it really bad, even considering self harm, her head was all over the place. Me, i was in shock, but I'm a strong character when it comes to tough situations. So i had to be there for her rather than myself.

Today we visited the doctor and got the go ahead for a termination. We have an appointment for a 2 hour consultation on 11th august. Then if all goes well the termination should take place the proceeding week.

We feel this is for the best, she heads to uni in September while i have another year left at college. We have no place of our own and little to offer a child. This has been a real hard decision but we have always said from the start if it even came to this, this is the path we would take, were just not ready for a child at this time in our life's. Were just too young for this kind of commitment.

But now the pregnancy has arisen its the hardest choice of my life, to think there's a little me in the world, my child, I'm sure with both our genes it would be the most gorgeous child in the world (to me anyway). With this, we have both decided we want children when we are ready in the future, but now is just not the time. I'm sure the next time shes pregnant its will be the happiest day ever.

This is so hard for me right now, i feel like breaking down in a heap and crying, but i just cant do it, which makes things so painful. Got to keep strong.

Please don't flame me for this post, this is a very hard time for me right now. A little compasion is all i ask.

Man, i'm sure that i can not even begin to comprehend what you are going through right now. It's a very difficult thing to go and do, just make sure that whatever choice you make, you can live with down the line

Only time will tell the emotional consequence that the future holds. I have to try, as hard as it is, to see this as not a child but a fertilized egg. Blunt the knife so to speak. I'm in turmoil,the loneliness I feel is indescribable. I blame myself.

I want to run, run and keep running. I've really fucked up this time, so bad. I feel I have the world on my shoulders, running me deeper into the ground.

Please be aware, that in reality there is nothing wrong with the choice you made or anything that happened, it is just the flow of life and what is, so make your decision and don't look back and mourn, go on and be happy you have the power to make your own decisions and be strong.

Good luck man. I can imagine it is a very hard thing to do.

You are making the correct choice IMO. And you will come through this a little wiser and stronger. No regrets. Cry and cry if you need to. Good time to take some Ecstacy with your girl if you have it.  :heart:

Yeah, I'm not a chic but I know for a fact it'll leave a lasting impression in her mind. Make sure you're there for her every step of the way. She'll definitely need your support after going through something like that. The procedure is said to be painless, but it's probably one of the most uncomfortable things to endure.

My ex gf had an abortion and it was very rough emotionally for us especially her. The best advice i can offer is to give her as much support as you can and assure her that its for the benefit of not only you as a couple but for the unborn child aswell.

My philosophy is that if a child cant be brought up in a loving, caring and stable environment then it shouldnt be had. Not to say that you wouldnt care for it but a baby requires 110% commitment and if this cant be offered then the route your taking is the best option in my opinion.

This is to much, my dad found the pregnancy test box in my room. I mean, it wasent on display or anything, but i didnt expect him to find it in such little duration. He confronted me weather she was on teh pill, i said yeah and everything is fine just a late period. He knew something was up before he found the box, so I just dont know what to do :banghead:

Thanks for the support, its all i need right now. I understand mentally this is going to be harder for her, i can see that. Im trying to be there as much as possible, sooner this is over the better.

How can I possibly carry this on my sholders, I have never experienced this kind of stress before, I feel like drinking my life away  :faded:

Welcome to the wonderful world of adulthood. Take it slow. Talk with people you trust. Don't make rash decisions. The stress comes from lack of control of the situation. Remember, whatever you decide, it will be with you for the rest of your life.

You are taking the right decision!

Just make sure you stand by your GF all the way. Problems are much easier to solve when you've got support, so just stand by each other!
